Speaking of something I mentioned earlier, I didn't read the books, so is there a synonym for lesbian (or gay man) in Thedas?
I've read all the books but I don't really remember any.

"Poetess" is supposed to mean the same thing as lesbian.
Here is an amusing video from DA:O where Leliana uses the word to dodge a Templar guard:
I don't know of any others, though.

In Origins Leliana uses 'poetess' when rejecting Carol's offer (the Templar guarding the boat to the circle).

Thanks, so it gives the idea that there must be a reason why gay women are called like that in that world. Some famous figure like Sappho? I wonder if it ever will be explained in the game, or referred again.
There would have to exist also more 'clinical' term, like IRL there was "tribade" (and later "Sapphist") for a long time before "lesbian" (though there were popular ideas that "tribades" are some sort of "hermaphrodites", because men couldn't figure out how else women could have sex).
I think I like the word poetess more than lesbian.. ![]()
Oghren also used the term "poetess" when referring to Hespit, Branka's lover.

I never noticed the poetess thing before. Now I want to know all about the Thedas version of Sappho.

Me too actually, never really liked that word lesbian, just the sound of it even, sounds harsh or something.
Rather just say gay or shorten it or use the D word myself. Even tho some don't like to use that word, it doesn't bother me personally.
Did someone say kittens?

I've always like the word Sapphic more but that's just me

I had no idea about it until recently myself. It's pretty well hidden in-game.

Make that 3 this is news to me. Ah Lels, so quick to tell me how much you like my warden's hair. ![]()
I...thought Lelliana was talking about being a female poet, myself.

I thought that too at first, but then Oghren referred to Hespith as a poetess later on and I had an epiphany.

The Quarian master race laughs back at you! (Seriously. Tali was awesome. And the entire race needs more screentime, IMHO.)
And hour before the class? You're too soft. I can't count the amount of times I finished my homework the moment the teacher entered the room.
I was like that when I was in high school, but now I have "matured"
Or just realized that I need to graduate with honors
So when do you think we will bump into Sera in game? I reckon as we approach Viv's Ball maybe, I heard we meet Sera on the streets of Orlais so it could be early in game.
Hopefully soon.
It looks like our first rogue will be Varric though.
If she was bisexual, then she couldn't be "conquered" by a man.
BTW, I wrote about "EastEnders" not even week ago, and apparently yesterday another TV show, "Hell on Wheels", used "lesbian sleeping with a man" trope, only making it even worse, much worse, because it insinuated that corrective rape of lesbians works. Didn't see it myself, but that's what people write about it:
The newspaper journalist Louise is a lesbian. The governor comes into her room in the last episode and has somewhat forceful sex with her. In this episode they show she can't get enough and she keeps coming back so he can **** her. He makes comments on how he has changed her and she basically is like I know.
It looked to me like he was starting to rape her/manhandle her without her consent. But she quickly seemed to encourage him. Just another show that will do anything to look different, whatever sense it makes. .... Then she seemed to say that she was doing it out of curiosity, to experiment.

that's disgusting.
Hopefully soon.

Yeah, him and Cass our first companions defo.

Of course they will be, they were the first ones we saw in trailer. You could smell the obvious from miles.
