Right. I remember Dave said they retconned her death and now she's canonically alive for some yet-unknown purpose.
I wonder why the Keep still has that choice, though? Possible oversight?
No, they've said it will be referenced/mentioned if the Warden "killed" her in DAO. The reason given for her "survival" of the fight is that the Ashes saved her.

We know her death gets retconned. Just not sure how that translates in DA:I, especially considering the choice to kill her is present in the Keep.
EDIT: @JerZey That's interesting. Guess there is no other way for it to make much sense.

Regarding the Art of DAI book (and I'm not looking for links there are plenty of em to go around in other character threads as it is) did anyone else see some of the images?
I saw some on tumblr this morning.
Nothing real spoilery yet.

People mostly fuss over it because of DAO's combat finishers, where they could cut off her head. Bioware has pretty much retconned those saying that you shouldn't put too much stock into stylistic choices(or something like that). Which is really just an odd choice of a thing to retcon to me, like what, your Warden was really delusional and only thought they cut that person's head off?

Too bad the Warden doesn't show up in DAI.
They'd be like: '' Didn't I kill you once. I could've sworn I chopped your head off.''

People who killed Lels should not be allowed to buy DLC. Blacklist their account, you're bad and you should feel bad and be punished for this.

Except for the fact that finishing moves were not recorded by the game, there was never a flag for "XYZ character beheaded" or something. I mean, in the final confrontation with Arl Howe you could randomly get a beheading finisher and he still would be perfectly fine and able to spout his last words before dying; same with Zevran, you could get to behead him in combat and then in the cutscene he is ok. Finishers are just that: cool, random, non flagged moves that the game doesn't record. Enough with this "but I beheaded her" nonsense, the game does not record, flag or recognize finishing moves, it never did and never will. /rant

You'd think something like that would be an easy fix though(performing finisher's on important NPCs that is)? Couldn't Bioware just have set the finisher possibility chance on those targets to "0" so that they could not be performed on them?

I'm not a programmer, so I don't know if it could have been done or not. The point is, the finishing moves were just something random that was not flagged or canon. The fact that people tend to take seriously everything, even random animations in combat, is probably why they got rid of finishers in the next game, so people couldn't whine at the "beheading" of someone who was actually fine after combat (that, and the fact that finishers were more of a hindrance that anything, since your character was locked in the animation 'til it was done and took damage from enemies in the process).

Rogues are the best!
Warriors are close though. Especially if that warrior is Cassandra.

I never played a mage in DAO, but I really liked to play a Mage Hawke. Its actually my canon class for that game.
I will probably play a mage during my second DA:I. Got a two-handed warrior planned for now.

I played a mage in both DA:O and DA2 but only to get the relevant achievements. Never actually finished either game as a mage. Quit as soon as the achievement popped.

I love mages and will play as them whenever possible. The only thing stopping me in DA2 is a desire to keep Bethany for DAI; it's a tricky decision.

I can play a mage, but for some reason they bore me. Stll, I wouldn't want to solo as a mage.

I like to play all the classes, but I'm a warrior/rogue at heart.
