I'm loving the amount of parallax mapping in this game. Might make some GPUs cry a bit but it's definitely worth looking at.

I think that might just be the contrast with blue and black (background).
But I'm totally speculating.

Not so much. Her head hasn't changed in quite some time. It's more other effects coming online. Outside environment, face effects, lighting, all that jazz. Cass too for the most part.
