There should be a period after "me". So you'd have two sentences.
I took German though, it's been of great use to me. All I remember is how to count to Twelve.

to elaborate only americans do it that way: in sentences ending in periods and clauses ending in commas the quotation mark goes outside the punctuation
it does not apply to question marks or exclamation points
it is possibly the dumbest most inconsistent garbage in american english but it is also a rule
it might be the only bit of english language convention that makes more sense in britain than america
