Cullen says :'My troops can deliver news of your safety and make it clear that the Inquisition should be taken seriously'.

That's... needlessly aggressive. Leliana suggests sending Elven agents with a gift as a show of good faith and Josephine suggests sending an Elven messenger. Gotta go with the ladies' touch here.

Cullen is a total grunt.

I want to know if there is a mechanic that associates the outcomes of these missions with who is chosen to handle them. Like, can we actually fail if we go with the wrong advisor's word? Or is it just a different outcome leading to the same eventual result?

I don't know if there has been any word on that front.

That would be way more intricate and complex that I expect it to be.

The gather coin mission suggestions were interesting too.

Josephine: Trade favors with merchants and nobles. Great earning potential.

Leliana: Traffic in secrets. Also good earning potential.

Cullen: Escort caravans and travelers. Chump change.

I mean, mercenaries can make a lot of money, but as he said himself the Inquisition doesn't have too many troops to spare. It seems unwise to spread them around so early in the game.

I'm sure there will be missions where Cullen's suggestions will seem better. Eventually...

I agree... but the thing that strikes me about the setup is that unless the Dalish have an irrational need to be given gifts they value before accepting a response to their inquiry, the two 'nice' options are basically the same.

Sending soldiers as messengers seems reasonable to me - considering the other two may be tapped occupied. So I would find it odd to add hide a bad option in there were it doesn't need to be. I hope it's basically the same for all, they just worded it that way to show that Cullen is a bit of a twit.

(edit) So twit without a w is censored. Go figure.

It doesn't take less time, but Leliana's justification and Josephine's use of the phrase "I suppose" leads me to believe that Leliana's will work out better.

Understood.

Cullen is a total grunt.

If there's failing, I think it'll be limited to certain, more plot-important choices.
I don't think the three approaches will grant the same benefits all the time though.

Gotta go with the ladies' touch here.

My favorite words to live by.

I think those two choices aren't exactly the best for choosing a military approach in general.

I agree, but to be honest, it's how it should work. Otherwise the whole thing would be pretty pointless.

I don't expect it to be the case, either. If it was, they would have talked about it by now.

I think they already demonstrated it, with the failure of sending Leliana to Redcliffe.

Oh. In this case I Agree, I'll try Leliana's.
While I won't choose Cullen's, I think it'll work for those who want to roleplay a elf who didn't get along with the clan.

That would make sense

They said that some previous choices might've lead to this result, other then the advisor choice.

I thought about that but I was under the impression that that particular quest is tied to other things besides who you send in.

EDIT: ninja'd

Oh I agree. Poor Cullen didn't get a chance to shine this time around because, well, we haven't seen anything where his option would be more suitable. I'm just having fun thinking 'Cullen suggests sending some leg breakers. Got it'.

I'm sure diplomacy or stealth won't always be the best option. I think the agent we choose for some missions will have an impact. They did say our choices would have an impact and I don't think a mechanic as important as the War Table would get brushed aside for that.

There's something on Josephine's TV Tropes description that makes me curious: she's the least likely to go behind our back and cause trouble. Does that mean that the other two might take initiative if they don't like our decisions? (again, on plot critical missions) That would be interesting...

Still think there's more to it that lead to her failure than just choosing her

The moment you see/hear the words "Redcliffe" and "castle" spoken in one sentence, no doubt.

Cullen's more of the " u need to invade or hit something? I'll do it" kind of guy

I'd rather try Josephine, as Alexius didn't seem to actually want to serve the Elder One, and might be amenable to diplomacy.

So Cullen is basically this guy:

I don't know if he deserves it. Either the Guerrins returned to the Castle or the allied Mages Were there. It'd mean Alexius attacked them and killed them. In this case I don't think I'll reserve him mercy.
Though We don't have a clear view of the situation.

Thinking about it, how would they get along? Wouldn't be surprised that by the end he would see her as a little sister

I honesty don't know. They do share a similar goal in helping the people of Thedas.

Do they...?

Can't remember anything such being said about Cullen.

Probably because I'm an Anti-Cullenite of sorts.

The interview mentioned that he steps up to protect people, and he recognized that the Order failed in protecting both the people of Kirkwall and its charges (mages), Which is a reason why he joined the Inquisition. He want to make the difference.
