We are forced to play males in almost every game series, when I first played DA I played as a self insert male in both DAO  and DA2 and that got boring and old FAST, same thing with Mass Effect. Played as a female warden and romanced Leliana and played as a female Hawke and romanced Isabela and its just different and just better to play a female. We need more badass female characters in video games and when I have the choice I play as a female who prefers females. Plus both FemShep and FemHawke's voice actress were way better than the males. So when Sera was announced as female only I was probably one of the few straight males in the world who was happy.

I know that you don't mean ill by saying this, but keep in mind that just because you are capable of playing a character of your opposite gender without problems, it doesn't mean that everyone is capable to do so. I know I can't play a straight dude no matter what, so...yeah. Don't tell people that it's not a big deal, for some it is.

Agreed.  People are different and think differently.  Its insulting to tell someone how they should feel.

Ah I feel yeah, I can say the same for Cass, and I do struggle to play as males in these games myself. I wish I could play the opposite gender with ease but alas I do struggle.

I've always been firmly in the camp of 'I play whatever the hell I feel like playing at the time.' 

 

Playing either gender has never bothered me. My character's genitals have never hindered my ability to connect with them.

 

Hence, never been mad about an LI announcement.

Yes, but trying to romance a character with a toon that you really don't relate with can be very difficult or impossible for someone to do. And watching it on youtube is definitely not the same thing as experiencing it.

I don't mean this directed at you, Artemis but as a general response to your post. To add to it, I would say to keep in mind that romances are completely optional and minor part of the game. This is not, Dragon Age the romance simulation. If your favorite character isn't romanceable for whatever reason, its not the end of the world and theres no need to be spiteful in your posts.

In short, get over it. You'll live.

Please stop doing this. I don't come to this thread to have this kind of gender/sexuality generalization leveled around. It's not cool when anyone does it to anyone.

 

You're not offending me, really, it doesn't bother me that much, it's just easier to go have a conversation somewhere that statements like this aren't getting made every few pages.

 

But come a point, I feel like it's appropriate to ask you to stop making generalizations about genders and sexuality. You can believe these things, it's your right, I just don't understand why every time I come here to casually chat with people the topic has to be about how upset I am that I can't romance Sera.

 

I'm not bothered by the fact that I can't romance Sera, because I don't play the game to romance characters, but to learn who they are as people. I will do that with Sera with the same enthusiasm as every other character because she looks interesting, not because she's a lesbian. I am hardly unique, or in the minority, virtually every "straight male friend" I have on these forums feels exactly the same way.

No nonono . See the romance are MY world ! So there is no get over it ! Sure there is a story , but do you know how boring it is to save the world without a smoochie ? 

Yes the romance are optionals . BUT peoples play like they want....you agreeing with them is OPTIONAL . 

Technicly the whole 'Get over it' could be used in many context ! 'You don't like X? get over it' . 

You may not agree , but you have no right to tell peoples to get over it . We are aware it is not a Simulation , we know ! Thanx...get over the fact we are not getting over it !
