I think Vivienne looks beautiful tbh. Sera looks fine other than the hair and Morrigan looks great too. As far as I can tell all the complaints about Cassandra are about her jaw and the fact that she has a scar. While I will admit her jaw did look a bit odd in the first trailer I think it was just the angle, she looked fine in pictures and in the gameplay trailer. She was never some pretty feminine princess anyway so idk why people expect her to be. 

 

I would rather these characters looked the way they do now than if they all looked like supermodels with massive breasts. The important part is the actual character not just how they look in game.

Because to me, it looks just fine and I think it fits her and very much gives her character (which is how I like it).

For a lot of people, it's not the haircut, it's the quality, which is inferior to the rest of the body.

In that case, could it be related to how the engine renders hair?

 

I mean I'm not expecting TressFX or anything, but for what it is, I think hair (from what we've seen so far) is fine. Not awesome, just alright.

The straight fringe hairstyles never seem to look good to me in computer games - though it can work in real life, perhaps because it's not so unnaturally orderly - and the uneven cut just makes it worse.

 

Also the texture/shininess looks off.

I mean I'm not expecting TressFX or anything, but for what it is, I think hair (from what we've seen so far) is fine. Not awesome, just alright.

 

Its an engine made for FPS games, whether that has any bearing I don't know , Hair and fur are two of the harder things to pull off, but I feel that in DA:I it's really substandard.

To be fair, that image of Sera could probably use a higher resolution or a different angle. It also could be a work in progress from a while back.

 

Maybe things will look better in the future as more polishing goes into the game... you never know.

Above all that, I think she just looks too clean.

 

Considering Elves are supposed to be downtrodden, it's a Medieval society, and her being a Rogueish thief, she looks way too posh and well-kept to realistically fit her role. Goes back to my point a few pages ago. She looks like the product of a DA:O beautification mod. Overall unprofessional-looking and stands out too much, in a bad way, to the environment.

 

I seem to remember Leliana saying that some elven servants in Orlais actually live quite well. Anyway, the fact that they are generally downtrodden does not mean that one of them can't have a nice outfit and a clean face. I would say the same for her being a rogue/thief, why do they all have to be unclean and raggedy?

I think Sera's probably doing okay financially.

Yeh this, I am hoping the shine problem is just from the lighting or angle of the picture and that it won't look that bad all the time.

Also as a thief she is probably living better than many of her social class. She probably never goes without a meal or lodging.

 

So I don't see the lack of filth an issue. Sera might be from the alienage but I doubt she was living rough or on the street.
