Even if they did cheat Bioware games have mostly always given the player the chance to recruit party members asap and since enemies don't level I'm sure its very possible to recruit most of them at any time as long as they are not story related for example we might not run into Cole until a certain part of the main quest.

 

You've basically just said that you think it is possible to recruit everyone at any time, unless there is a reason you can't recruit someone at any time.

 

Outside of ME1 and arguably DA2 all BioWare games I'm familiar with have had at least one companion tied to a mid to late game plot. From what I've seen I suspect everyone can be recruited early, but that's based off what has been shown, and what has been shown can be misleading.

 

 

Dorian, Cole, and the Iron Bull were missing IIRC.

 

I just checked and that is right. Both Dorian and Cole were in the so-new-it-has-scaffolding Skyhold live stream though, so I guess everyone is available early in a non-linear order. Maybe.

 The only companions in Origins who were tied to the plot that you could get late is really dependent on how you play the game Wynne you get at the Circle which is the first main story quest I do so I always get her early but if you decide to go to the Circle last you will get her late in the game, Oghren is always last in my playthroughs but if you decide to go to the deep roads first he could join you early. In Me 1 the only squad mate you couldn't get on the Citadel was Liara and you could either get her right away or even wait and get her last,  ME 2 and ME 3 had squad mates who joined mostly by how far you were in the plot, I think DAI will have a mix of this as Mike sort of eluded to it in the stream yesterday that some companions are very easy to get and some are tied to the plot. I can see Cole and maybe Dorian being tied to how far you are in the main quest line, but with characters like Sera and IB I could see them being recruited early if you choose to do so.

Trust me, if you have an essay you have to complete three days before the release, it suddenly won't feel THAT long.

Oghren and Wynne are located in two of four main quests in the middle game. In order to have both in the party you need to have finished roughly half the game. To get the option of recruiting the last companion you need to reach the Landsmeet. Awakening is worse with each of the middle quests having a companion attached to it. ME2, ME3 and JE simply put companions unlocking after the halfway point. KotOR also has 2 of 4 main plots grant companions.

 

I get the impression BioWare will make everyone available early this time, but that is not what they have tended to do in previous games. I am hoping that companions will be recruited through side quests so that we can get everyone (we want) without pushing too far into the main plot.

I just wish they kept the hair we saw in the previous stream. Oh well, not cutting hair in front of her ears probably suits the story of "Cut it with her knife" more.

It's funny, but that bit reminds me of that Jewish custom of not cutting your hair in front of your ears.

(Disclaimer, I fully respect the custom, even if, as an atheist, I consider it slightly strange. They wanna do it, they can do it.)

I agree, and not because I think men should be muscled and women shouldn't. I think bodybuilders look silly regardless of sex. I'm much more impressed by, say, a rock climber that can pull him or herself up by one hand than someone who just spends time bulking up in the gym...

Actually, you might be quite surprised by this story. I'm almost done with the first chapter (of 5). I cannot write porn without plot to save my life. There has to be character development, and humor, and logic. I'm boring like that.

I'm actually interested now in putting everyone in those armours...though I wonder how Vivienne Would look in it .

Yeah, I don't think I could do a rewrite of a game. Definitely not. What I CAN do, however, is OCs and their stories, as I found out. I just have to keep in mind not to break any game lore. As long as you don't break lore, or stray too far to keep it believable (Quarian biotics, ugh... now, that might happen in a few centuries, sure... but I wouldn't go any further than first findings of biotics among Quarians, and that's at least five hundred years from the events of ME3 - can't imagine it remotely believable otherwise, I mean Quarian biotics would be enough farfetched on their own, regardless of time passed and how common they would be in the story)

I don't think they'll let you suit up Vivienne in a suit of actual armor, even if she's the Knight Enchanter of the group.

I actually think We can, through crafting. I doubt they'll reduce a massive armour in a robe/outfit.
But I think The inquisition mage outfit isn't going to be heavy armour anyway.

where are you getting that she was the Cheiftan of a Bandit Group? Unless you're reffering to the Friends of Red Jenny...

Helmets on rogues never really make much sense to me personally. When I think helmet, I think warrior.

 

I remember outfitting my rogues in DAO/2 with extremely light armor, while using tank-type companions to balance it out.
