Forgive me, but I'm... less enamored with this story than many others. This might be my own fault, but it feels to me like you're selling Sera short by having her fall into a pattern of submissiveness and Trevelyan's... philosophy? It just seems to be something of a disservice to Sera's character, since we've had no real indication that she'd ever enjoy entering this kind of pattern, especially with this setup.

Well... As the game isn't even out yet, I'd say that we have no indication that she wouldn't, either. We know little about her other than she's brash,  funny and headstrong politically. All we know about her sexual preferences is that she's a lesbian. Beyond that, how people are in private doesn't always reflect how they are in public, so as things stand, without playing the game and playing the romance we can't say what she's like either way. This makes Cat's interpretation as valid as any other for now.

In this chapter Sera was dealing with a lot of conflicting emotions and then lust came into the bargain and she, well, lost her head a bit. Being a sub doesn't mean having a weak personality or refusing to stand up for oneself. In fact, it's often the opposite.

 

She is most definitely not going to let Trevelyan walk all over her (not that Trevelyan wants to do that anyway) and there's going to be quite a lot of sass from Sera. I know there's something involving tossing mud at some point, and not as part of kink play either.

Well that's fair enough, and I guess you could argue that Cat should wait to write her fanfic until we know the character better, but for now I personally don't mind. It's a bit of (well written) fun while we wait to see the character and story that Lukas and the rest of the writers have come up with.

Well, part of the reason I'm writing it is to help me kill time until the game comes out so.... But yeah, I try to stay true to the characters as they were presented in the original story.
