Except the only two series I seriously like are ME and DA...

the 40k universe has some of the most in depth lore ever.... though that's mostly because its been out for some time now.....
And now back to Sera.

US history the dullest thing in the world... I prefered the one semester of Ancient history in Sophmore year in High School. so that'd be year 10.
I think it might be the way it is taught. In my early schooling most of my Australian history was tedious stories about the pre-federation era and numerous accounts of one particular military catastrophe in the First World War, which is supposed to form the foundation of culture or something. Later on I learnt things which actually made coherent and interesting stories, and were genuinely important. Foreign history I've learnt has always been taught like the later.

Oh dear.

Tablteop games and RPGs tend to produce incredible volumes of lore compared to video games. I guess it's because source books tend to be a large chunk of their primary product.
Someone just liked a post I made in Scuttlebutt back in May... ![]()
Yeah, but imagine how deep and wealthy the lore of both DA and ME is.
For example, Sera's group, the Friends of the Red Jenny!
They were there since the Warden delivered a strange package in Denerim. And presumably looong before!
In Mass Effect, though, the first game was the most lore-dependant. Even gameplay mechanics were just the way they were because they would otherwise be againist the lore (kinetic barriers and Thresher Maw acid spits...)

I'd definitely agree that the teacher can make or break a subject. I had the most wonderful History teacher at school. We mostly studied early-to-mid 20th century history and he brought it to life brilliantly. Thanks, Mr Klays! ![]()

Agreed, the Teacher can really be the key thing for not just History, but just about any other subject.
So how many people are hoping Cat posts that second chapter to the Trevelyan X Sera fic today, besides myself?

Yup. In my year we had the opposite case in our French teacher. Mostly the same group of kids as History but she couldn't control them or keep them interested. There were only two of us in the class who got the top grade. What did we have in common? Parents who were French teachers. ![]()

I agree some teachers can be so boring and that can make your grade suffer, good teachers can make a lecture fun and interesting.

They're cool, but there are a lot of expansive lores around. It's something of a tradition really.

No lore was gameplay dependent. There was a poorly thought out backwards excuse for infinite bullet guns because BioWare was still in their no ammunition phase after dropping it in their DnD games. Thresher Maws had acid spites so you couldn't just turret them from the rocks, instead you had to kite without rhythm.

Looking forward to it but I wouldn't want to rush her!

Why did they remove the acid spit gets through your shields thing then?
Because the only two Thresher Maws we meet in the rest of the series are
a) on foot during Grunt's loyalty
the next time we're on Tuchanka and get to summon Kalros, thus don't fight a Thresher maw?
Ugh.
And I admit, I've no clue how to explain thermal clips...
But I still claim Quarians had them ages before the rest of the galaxy in my FF.

I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. Even ME1 plays like a fairly standard shooter with fairly standard RPG systems. The lore is bent around it.
But less future era, more Sera.

I wouldn't even call ME1's shooter mechanics 'standard'; they were a tad substandard, even for a 2007 shooter. Its RPG elements, however, were rich and better than anything ME2 or 3 offered in that department.
I do agree it was the most lore-oriented game in the trilogy.

I'm working on it! It's not going to be ready today, but I'm hoping to have it finished before the weekend (the chapter that is, not the whole story!)
I can say this though: this chapter is finger licking good. ![]()
I finally ordered the deluxe edition, guide, and an xbox1. I'm officially ready for Sera ![]()
I can say this though: this chapter is finger licking good.
Now I really want to read it.
and have KFC for dinner
I don't think my mind can take that sort of dirtiness.... Or maybe it can.

I dont care when it comes out, well okay I do so long as it comes out before I die, but other than that, you just take all the time you need.
also, are you trying to cause your readers to die of blood loss?

As I told someone else who asked a similar question: I am not trying to kill anyone. Just break them a little. Then I'll put them back together and do it again. ![]()

Masterpieces take time so I can always wait, I'm kinda pro at it by this point and got lots of practice yet to do in the coming weeks!

*runs away screaming*

I meant standard in the sense it follows the same basic post Gears of War design of a shooter that came out in 2007. You have cover, a regenerating supply of health (shields), two to four weapons at a time, etcetera. They didn't say use mass effect fields as an excuse to make everyone jetpack infantry.
I would argue that ME1 made the classic mistake of thinking that granular control over a bunch of variables equates to interesting choices, and actually offers very little in terms of customising a character. Or did you mean dialogue and morality?

Are you an evil genius? (I mean this in a good way)

I reckon she's at least one of those things...
