im also fond of roman history aswellI prefer Ancient Greece and Rome myself....
I love Chinese history, especially the Ming-Qing transition. There are some spectacular personalities there: Hong Taiji, Dorgon, the Chongzhen Emperor, Li Zicheng, Yuan Chonghuan, and that total lunatic Zhang Xianzhong. The Three Kingdoms period is all right - albeit probably far more well known because of a literary epic than for the actual history - in large part because of all the confusion and chaos. Awful time to be alive, but riveting reading for after the fact.
don't forget Dynasty Warriors lol

The Myths are cool, buts its the people that made them, and their times that interest me much more.
Xianzhong was a madman.. frightening person tbh. What drew me to the three kingdoms was lord cao cao quiete the odd person though i shouldnt say his name else he may rise from the grave lolI love Chinese history, especially the Ming-Qing transition. Of course the further you get back into antiquity, the fewer the sources and the more the line between myth and history blurs anyway...

true.. Which makes things that much more interesting.

but of course, thats all history
When it comes to American history I prefer the armed conflicts, mostly WW 1 and WW 2. The Hundred Years War and The Three Kingdoms Era is also interesting. Roman history always interested me in school and same thing with Greek Mythology. Egyptian mythology is also very interesting.

*Wave* Hi !
Is the keep out ? Man..I'm late again ! Gimme!!!!! ![]()
makes wonder how he gained power with that mindset(historically)Greek and Roman history used to be my thing. For the longest time, I thought I wanted to be a classicist. Then I got to take a few actual classics courses and was like nope nope nope, the methodology and the people in the field are ALL CRAZY. I still find it to be interesting, but not "this is my field of study" interesting.I kinda go for the hipsterish deep cuts of Greek and Roman history, too. The fifth century (Persian Wars, Perikles, Peloponnesian Wars) and Alexander are what most people know about ancient Greek history, but I'm more interested in the Hellenistic era after Alexander. (Unsubtle plug: there's an amazing mod for Medieval II: Total War that covers the Hellenistic period in deep historical accuracy and detail. It's called Europa Barbarorum II, and you should play it. It is better than Total War: Rome II.)Rome, similarly, only got interesting when it started to collapse in the late fourth century.Wouldn't have existed if not for the aforementioned literary epic. :POh yes. Zhang Xianzhong was crazy and dangerous. Of course, the tales about him made him even more crazy, like the story of his monument with the etching:Heaven brings forth innumerable things to nurture man.Man has nothing good with which to recompense Heaven.Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill.
