Your idea of a reboot and mine are completely different.  A reboot is a lot more than a few edits IMO.  ATM I don't think Mass Effect needs a reboot but we'll see if that opinion changes come Mass Effect 4.

Mass Effect whether or not people want to admit is, is built around The Reapers, with them gone, can BioWare create a compelling story or not.  If they can't with Mass Effect 4, perhaps BioWare should then think about rebooting the story, obviously making it much different than the original trilogy.  There are many ways BioWare can tell the Reaper story, it doesn't have to follow the same path.

Except as an Adept I don't have mines and have to take along a character who does if I want to use them. And they are still limited to just one type.

The only thing I found grenades useful against in ME3 were Atlas mechs. As for some reason they don't tend to bounce around when thrown at them.

I used the crouch a lot in ME1. Especially when starting at level 1. That accuracy boost can mean a whole different battle.

Cover is something I doubt we are ever going to agree on. I hated how ME2 and 3 telegraphed when there was going to be a fight by having lines of chest high walls suddenly in place. The cover in the first game was a far more natural part of the environment. And as I said, you don't have a Shepard who wants to hug exposed walls in the middle of a fire-fight in the first game.

Grenades in ME3 are good against everything especially against troopers the bouncing isn't really much of a problem (and in some cases be useful). And the cover system in ME1 was useless imo I don't even bother using cover in ME1 Bioware is sticking with ME2/3 style cover, now back to topic.

@Kingthlayer I don't want Bioware to continue with the reaper's since that plot has been resolved and three games is enough imo, 1% of the galaxy has been explored there is a lot of stories to tell that don't involve reapers, trying to make every story built around the reapers will just lead to bad writing.

@voteDC

I miss the ability to crouch though as fast as the combat is in ME3 it's utility would be a bit dubious.

I do hate that one button does EVERYTHING. After playing Multiplayer since right after release I've gotten pretty good at dodging cover when I need to. Unfortunately when things get really hairy I sometimes bump into a wall, take cover by accident and get punished hard for it. It would have been better if they had made the cover button a press of one of the sticks. Also, when taking cover in ME3 your crosshairs narrow and your weapon gets a stability boost. That is unless you're using the Harrier which looses stability because dumb? I started replaying ME2 again and was reminded that cover adds accuracy there as well.

Thanks for the info Legacy. I've honestly never noticed the stability/accuracy boost in 2 and 3 boost. Nice to know it is there though.

The most annoying thing about cover in ME3 is when you try to get out and accidentally just move around the corner.

I too would rather not see Mass Effect continue on without The Reapers, but when they first started talking about the next game and they throw around things like prequels, I don't think they have it in them to create a great story.  Especially since this is a new team working on the next Mass Effect, we have no idea if they can live up to the standards of the developers who came before them.

Plus I'm of the opinion that the next Mass Effect is likely to be a First Contact War prequel with a heavy focus on Mutliplayer.

Oh that FCW with a couple relatively tiny fights? Wonderful.

FCW can be part of the next game, sure, somehow. But the whole game basis? Prequel in general? Optimism plummets. :( Personally speaking of course.

They don't have too live up to the past devs teams, they just need to make a good game that people will enjoy.

It's far too soon for a reboot.

the ending of ME3 was so bad it left a ring of repugnance around the entire trilogy and rebooting it would be a unashamed slap in the fans faces. I prefer that the next Mass Effect take place in a very very distant future so that the sins of ME3 could be long buried and the next Mass Effect would be then still be familiar and yet still fresh and new.

The First Contact War is far too small a setting, IMO.

It would involve only the Alliance and the Turians, most of the action would occur on and around a single planet (Shanxi), and the conflict itself was little more than a border skirmish. Total Turian casualties were something like 2,000 KIA. (slightly less for the humans) The protagonist alone would be probably mowing down at least half that number.

Of course since it is a prequel setting you'd also have the additional problem of there already being a predetermined outcome. Anyone who played through the Shepard trilogy would know it was going to end with the Council stepping in and forcing negotiations before the Turians could mobilize their entire fleet.

If Bioware could somehow create a narrative that uses the past, 'present', and future.. sure, I'll take FCW as part of that. But only for like a level or two, basically.

Definitely think a port to next gen would be good, the improvement in grahics would be great especially for ME1 , actually i originally played the series on xbox and only recently played through again on PS3 thanks to the EA sale on PSN, Have to say ME1 and ME2 looked better on PS3 obviously because they were late additions to PS but with that in mind the thought of how good a next gen port would be is exciting.

the way I see it, they're going to make it downloadable for the PS4 eventually so why not make a few improvements?

There's already been talk of an HD release of the trilogy on next gen consoles. I hope it happens. But a reboot is unnecessary

I hope this happens too.
