When did you first learn about Bioware?

And what was your favorite title?

First game?  KOTOR on the Xbox.  Didn't even know it was by them at the time, I just liked the way the cover looked and picked it up.

Mass Effect. I wanted something like Fallout 3, which wasn't what I got, lol.

I had first heard about Bioware when my brother got a copy of Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood for his birthday. I knew about Knights of the Old Republic, but I didn't know they developed that game until afterwards.

My first Bioware game was Mass Effect 2, which I bought for PS3 the first day it came out. I see it as my favorite as well.

My first BioWare game was KotOR, as well. Picked it up because Star Wars. First time I played it, I was kinda ambivalent and ended up losing interest about halfway through Taris. Didn't actually finish a game until a few years later. Lost interest after that. Didn't really connect it with BioWare as a company.

When ME2 came out, one of my roommates got it and I was absolutely floored. Conversations were awesome, customization was awesome, and I love gunplay, so, well, there you go. So I went out and bought the PC port of the first game and devoured it. Then I got ME2. I've probably spent over a thousand hours on those two games combined. That's when I really started thinking of BioWare as a distinct game company with its own culture and style instead of just some name that pops up at the beginning of a game.

So I'd say that the first two Mass Effect games were my gateway drug, so to speak. After they came out, I started getting games "because BioWare made them".

Sure, I'll play.

I borrowed Knights of The Old Republic, for PC, from a friend, and fell instantly in love with it. Later, while browsing a game store(or games section of an electronics shop), same friend convinced me to pick up Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition.

He also convinced me to pick up Morrowind, and also got me interested in Bloodlines.

I had never played an RPG before I met that guy.

Oh, and favourite title? Do I have to pick one? If number of complete playthroughs is a measure, it's either KotOR or DA2. I'm more inclined to pick Jade Empire, though.

My first BioWare game was Mass Effect 3, on the PC. I didn't really know much about BioWare at the time, but ME3 looked cool and I found out that you could play as FemShep so I was sold.

Favorite BioWare game would have to be DA2.

Kotor on the Xbox, though I really didn't know anything about bioware at that time.

NWN was my first title, played for about half an hour and was disgusted. Picked it up again maybe a year later, loved it. With the amount of classes and prcs, and between the expansions and mods, I've probably played it the most of any bioware game. If not that, DAO.

I'd say maybe Jade Empire tells the best, most interesting story, but doesn't lend itself to many replays.

Oh, man. DA:O. Vanilla, on console. I was lost to the world, from the very beginning of that game.

Years later I literally found DA:O unplayable on console for various reasons, but it's a huge testament to the game that originally I was able to overlook all these things such as frame rate and graphics and horrible CC and still enjoy the crap out of the core game.

I've known of Bioware since the BG days. But KotOR was the first Bioware game I ever purchased. Followed it for like a year and a half through it's development. The first time I heard about it was in OXM. They had a little page-long editorial talking about how Bioware was making a story-driven RPG within the Star Wars Universe for the 'Big Black Box'. Most importantly there would be Jedi, Sith and lightsaber battles (there wasn't a great selection of Star Wars games that made use of the legendary weapon. Most were space shooters). I picked it up on Day 1. July 13, 2003 or something like that? Either way, I was the only person at my local GameStop that actually preordered it. (err was probably Electronics Boutique back then)

Bioware has been my favorite game developer ever since.

(*Yes, I know the sequels are not made by Bioware)

Bolded = Bigger and more well known Bioware titles.

Italics = More personally impacting Bioware titles.

Ancient Bioware:

I was a child.

Shattered Steel - Whatever.

Baldur's Gate - Haven't played it, though I own it now. Same with the sequel*.

Neverwinter Nights - Have barely played it, though I own it now. Same with the sequel*.

MDK2 - Played it, had fun messing around with it on my cousin's computer, whatever.

Rise of Old Bioware:

I was a preteen.

Knights of the Old Republic - Played it, beat it at least once. Loved it, and it made me a fan of Bioware's games. However, I was more into JRPGs at the time, so I only gave it a passing admiration :). Also played sequel and find it better in some ways*.

Jade Empire - Played it, nearly completed it, watched the ending online since, and I plan on playing it again someday. Not my favorite game, but there's a lot to enjoy.

I guess you could say I'm a '2nd Age' Bioware player, and a '3rd Age' Bioware fan (I was fan of KOTOR already, but didn't care about the company either way) :). I don't have the mental reference point of the '1st Agers'. :(

Classic Old Bioware:

I was a teen.

Mass Effect - Played a cousin's copy. Loved it. LOVED IT. LOVED IT. LOVED IT. Gimmie more! Then moved onto other games in meantime.

Dragon Age: Origins - At first I didn't get it. Later got a 360 copy that I barely played. Now have a PC copy that I'm trying to get into, but get distracted. I'm about half way through it. I'd like to complete it by Inquisition. I do enjoy what's there so far though.

Sonic Chronicles - Whatever.

Rise of EA Bioware:

I was an older teen/young adult.

Mass Effect 2 - This was the one Bioware game that I hung onto EVERY word and press release by the company. The months leading to ME2, I finally joined the forums, got invested in discussions, that whole thing. When I first played it, I enjoyed it very much, but it wasn't my favorite Mass game. Over time (a year to two years after), I got tired of the datedness of ME1 and had to concede that ME2 was a better game overall. even though I consider ME1's main story better.

Dragon Age 2 - Barely paid any attention, but some friends did, and boyyy were they angry. Except one, I remember. He liked it. I've gotten the PC copy now and I'm in the 2nd Act, but I'll be redoing the game later, also hopefully before Inquisition is out.

Star Wars: The Old Republic - Bioware got their brand loyalty from me on this one. Preordered, but I don't think I got the Collector's Edition. Wasn't as angry as other gamers, but I still ended up unsubbing after 1-2 months. I like a bunch of what was there, but it wasn't enough for me. I pop into F2P from time to time, playing two characters to get to Lv 55, and subscribe every several months.

Mass Effect 3 - This time, I kept some distance from the total hype I put myself into for ME2 (which no other game has matched since). I did occasionally visit the forums though. I spoiled myself on whatever leaks existed, and theorized the heck out of things. I was one of the early people who were weirded out by the Vancouver boy, and I even speculated Reaper influence since ME2, so I wanted to experience at least the game itself without spoilers, so I kept the ending a least SOMEWHAT pure in my mind :). I enjoyed the game overall, but felt let down. I never felt anger, let alone rage, but I did put my support into Retake Mass Effect.. for a week or two. By now, I have to still say that ME2 is the best Mass Game by my standards... yet..yet.. ME3 is the game I most personally enjoy now. My crazy theories/hypothesis may not make sense to others, but I use them in my playthroughs and they make ME3 kinda magnificent in some ways. And the combat is (aside from lowered difficutly compared to ME2 blah) better too.

Future EA Bioware:

I am a young adult/adult, will be a little more mature adult by the end of this next Era :)

Dragon Age: Inquisition - Hope it's good, but I'm not invested enough to hugeeely care. I won't be preordering or collector's edition ordering, but I'll be keeping an eye out for major news and how the game is reviewed by players.

Mass Effect: 'Next' - Dammit Bioware, make it great! Make it shine! Make it bring daylight back into this ruined landscape! Unlike many, I'm getting increasingly optimistic (not hyped, but optimistic) about the next game, but I can't really share that enthusiasm because my reasons would sound so obscure and wrong :( Oh well, my reasons are my own, and I hope it turns out great regardless. As it is though, I'm holding out on confirming my preorder/collectors. I'll need to know some certain things first.

Next IP - Dunno what it is, but let us know sometime Bioware :)

I started playing BG2 on a whim around when it came out, in something Novemberish 2000. I was 15 and not much of a gamer, so it was one of those things I never really finished but kept trying to every now and again anyway. Not to mention I was playing it in English (which for all I remember, was all it was available in. Maybe it wasn't. Hm.) when my understanding of the language was a hair above below mediocre.

Few years later I went back and played the first one, ended up finishing them both. Didn't really play anything else after until the wife, then girlfriend, convinced me to take Mass Effect for a spin upon realizing I had an Xbox I rarely ever used.

My brother lent me ME2. I played it because I was bored of everything else. It grew on me.

Still my favorite Bioware game.

I played Mass Effect 1 on my girlfriend's recommendation. Thought it was a strange game, but I enjoyed it.

The conversations took some getting used to. I ended up getting really anxious when in them toward the end of the game because I kept worrying that if I said one wrong thing, I'd screw over my chances of winning the game on a positive note. Strangely enough, I really missed the depth of the conversations in the later games. It sucked that everything was so black and white in ME 2/3. It was either good, or bad. Never neutral and all your choices had clear cut and dry, black and white, good or bad outcomes.

I also missed the weapon customization from ME1, but I understand that in order to appeal to a wider audience, Bioware had to make the game easier and more straightforward.

Damn, seeing your posts about your first Bioware games makes me feel old, my first Bioware experience was with Baldur's Gate 1 back in 1998. Played it on my aunts computer.

KotOR on Xbox.

I bought it around the time SW: Episode III came out. I was at a Walmart and I passed by this huge bin with a lot of games in it, and the only game that stood out was KotOR. The front cover looked awesome with Malak and Bastila just looking badass with their lightsabers. I was really into Star Wars at that time and I just had to have it, so I bought it for ten bucks and played for three days straight. Probably the best ten bucks I've ever spent.

That's how I found out about BioWare. Yep.

Always heard of Bioware, but never owned or played a game by them until I purchased Mass Effect trilogy in 2012. Loved every minute of it

My first game was technically NWN. Liked the atmosphere, hated D&D gameplay. Rebought the game off GoG and my feelings hadn't changed. I tried MDK2 Demo and it was pretty neat, atomic toasters have a certain allure to them.

Mass Effect was what made me a BioWare fan. I'm still around because.... wait, why am I still around again? o.O DA:I might hold an allure, and Mass Effect: Forget About Shepard and The Ending is quite far away, so I'm trapped in the lobby for now. :P

I learned about Bioware after finding that most of my fav rpg's are made by them. 1st game that I played from them is Neverwinter Nights (way back 2003) which I saw someone playing it and decided to try it out. Immediately fell in love with it and acquired myself  a copy (acquired all Expansions and DLC at some point) . 2nd game is Jade Empire, saw someone playing it and discovered its from the same guys who made NWN. Got a copy played it, loved it. Then someone pointed me to KOTOR, same story. Then a friend of mine is playing this game that I found has somewhat similar elements to previous Bioware Games (great story,romance,...) and discovered Dragon Age. From that moment on, I knew what sort of games im getting from bioware and so decided to get Mass Effect Trilogy and DA2

Jade Empire was my first Bioware game. Loved it, read a bit online that KOTOR was similar to it and also developed by Bioware so I picked that up a while afterwards (tracked down the sequel soon after finishing that).

JE was more first real dip into the RPG pool and it got me hooked.

Like most posts so far my first game was Kotor, but I didn't really take notice of them until Dragon Age Origins.
