This topic is only relevant if the Warden and Hawke actually do make an appearance in DAI.
My suggestion is that the game should allow us to recreate our personal Warden and Hawke as best we can by utilizing the same customization screen as we would use when creating our Inquisitor.
That way even if the Warden and Hawke look completely different than the one from our true playthroughs, no one should be mad because we had the best option to include our own Hawkes and Wardens. The customization window could pop up after we create our Inquisitor or even after the game has started, but before the Hawke and Warden are introduced (e.g. if they are first introduced via cut scene, a customization screen would appear right before said cut scene).
This would also help prevent any potential abnormalities due to the new engine since we would be creating the Warden and Hawke personally.
This is again assuming that the Warden and Hawke can appear in the game.
This is this is the option I'd prefer if they show up ( which is likely since they've already made a decision) and was talked about by Gaider in 2 threads awhile back in which he said that ideally their physical appearance should be under our control and later on in another thread he said it would be recustomizing as opposed to importing them which isn't possible.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: if Hawke and/or the Warden appear, they will not be playable. They are now NPC's. Ideally the player will have a say in their import state (and thus their appearance), but that does not extend to control over their actions following the end of the stories they originally appeared in. That said, I doubt we would go out of our way to have them do things which would be wildly problematic... but that really depends on what one personally considers "wildly problematic", particularly if they have very specific headcanon regarding what they believe their former PC's went on to do
http://social.biowar...ndex/17301622/2I doubt it's going to be a matter of "importing" any more than you import your world state. Rather, it would be "re-creating"... and even if there is an import of some kind, most likely you'd be free to further tweak (as I can't imagine a circumstance where we could guarantee 100% visual accurancy with an import, considering the new engine).
That's still being investigated, however, so there's nothing I can confirm regarding how either of those things would be done

It likely would have to happen after we create our inquisitor and set our world state, though as of now its not confirmed or even promised but it might be possible and likely the best option for them and would calm some of the more negative people as a lot of complaints are usually about this, right now it's the waiting game to see what they decide to do, if they go this route or another or if they appear or not.
Ohmigosh this so much. I want to be able to recustomize them if they're in the game! I don't want BioWare to butcher my characters' appearances. I'm super attached to my former protagonists so if they were stuck with a default appearance....
Make it a CC screen in the Keep or something, if the Keep can do stuff like that. It'd be weird to be about to enter a convo and then have a CC screen pop up out of nowhere. Though I'd prefer that over nothing at all.
It's not possible with the keep and one of the devs said as much in the gamermd interview from awhile ago, while it's not meant to be a character creator it will want to know our hero attributes which are what race, name, gender, alive or dead which could possibly used as a base to build from.
Say we set our world states and import them, once that loads it could check to see if your warden is alive or not if so it'll load up your hero attributes and then a separate character creator loads up where we could theoretically re customize them as best as possible and get them as close as we can given the new engine and that it's impossible to get them 100% the same as they looked like in the previous games which would be fine with me since I'd rather have them somewhat resemble them as opposed to a random, default or one in full armour.
This is just a scenario, it remains to be seen what they're going to do with this but a lot of people would like the ability to have their physical appearance be under our control which could or should be ideally under our control that is if they appear and think this is the best option for them.
