Tommy 6860,
"Note that of all of the possible lovers, Morrigan is the only one who steadfastly remains monogamous, that must count for something."
Actually she makes no promise. She has had casual relationships before. She doesn't make any promises to you. She actually tells you she doesn't want to see you again. There is nothing in the game that suggest the Warden can stop her from going down a destructive path. Your relationship started as a lie and ends with some honesty. She still runs away from it and makes it clear she wants to control how this baby is raised. She states you will never see the baby. She tells you that she intends to teach the child the ways of the old gods and prepare it for what is coming. Let's remember this was why Flemeth sent her. The player has no idea what this child will do. It is very vague intentionally.
Corker is correct loves does not conquer all. There are plenty of red flags in this relationship where a professional may advice a well adjusted guy to run the other way. It could end up toxic. I believe this is what Starlitegirlx is picking up on her radar. Morrigan stated that love is death. That is not normal. Humans can experience love and leave the relationship because of irreconcilable differences they just can't get by.
I watched Witch hunt's ending romance. It really doesn't say much. You have the Warden say he loves her and asked to take him with her. She will say come my love. We will face what comes together. This doesn't mean she'll let you have a say in the child's development or influence her course of actions. Any married couple will tell you marriage takes a whole lot of commitment.
As a warden you should know that if Morrigan thinks she could use sex to control she will. She has a different norm setting than most of us. She does tell you she approved of Flemeth leaving her husband for a deal that would provide money and power. Unfortunately, the lord double-crossed them and killed Flemeth's husband.
I had a compassionate guy romance her. His parents asked him to make them proud and he did. He didn't always agree with Morrigan. He wasn't afraid of magic or mages. He didn't approve of the circle but saved them. He doesn't approve of slavery or the mistreatment of elves. He destroyed the Anvil because he believes trapping souls is not the answer. Remember young Cousland has already proven he can manage men and earn their loyalty. His parents were planning on having the younger Cousland take over Highever.
By the end of the game this Cousland may see that their social norm differences is not the only dividing factor in this relationship and chooses to just not pursue it. This really isn't a big issue she stated after the first night she was not looking for a commitment.
