As demonstrated by Limbs below where it is legitimately impossible to get a rating of 900+ with 20 games.

Maybe I used equivalency wrong, but aren't you kind of saying banana == fruit, therefore all fruits are bananas?
I'm arguing that getting a legit high N7 rating does require a skill, which doesn't necessarily translate into the most skilled player because there are many skills.

Banana =/= fruit. The correct relationship is banana \in (belongs to) fruit. Which means banana is a type of fruit.

High N7 = time

Nothing more nothing less. This is a video game not an athletic activity.

You make the assumption that the more time you spend playing the game, the better you get at it.

While that's true to an extent, it's only really relevant as far as learning the basic mechanics of the game and maybe getting a bit of practice in at shooters if you aren't used to playing them already.

Anything past the basics, there's a lot more to it than time spent and if you don't care to improve yourself it's not going to happen on its own.

So how would I represent the following?

There are numerous skills involving in playing ME3. Obtaining N7 rating points requires utilizing a subset of those skills, but also requires a condition that the player is willing to promote.

not even remotely correct. I played several games with people that has n7 ratings in the thousands and had easily 20-30 K in the other rating.. both died repeatedly, and in the 3 matches we played I came out first twice(damage isn't an indicator obviously-but they had all IV gear where I was using my scrap) and another person with an N7 rating of just 120 beat us all the 3rd game

I played several games with players that had double-digit N7 ratings and they did very well.

I think sometimes the BSN community gets too defensive about N7 rank, and overreacts to the point that BSN misconstrues a high-N7 as actually being a player who is unskilled.  Which is just absolutely not the case.  I rarely come across a high N7 ranked player who are bad at the game.

Play time and skill correlate, the more you play the better you get.  And N7 correlates with play time, i.e. it takes play time to promote characters and buy packs.  N7 can simply be used as a generic indicator of play time.

Can a player be great at the game with a low N7, absolutely.  But high N7 is a great indicator of an experienced player.

N7 rating = ability to spam a recruit pack purchase button for hours on end = or time played

I guess every time I start a new account my skill level resets with my N7 rating .. back to 1

I would say that high N7 is correlated with better ME3 skill.

This means that USUALLY, higher N7 means you are a better player, but not necessarily vice versa. It also does not suggest there is a causal relationship between N7 and skillz. And it does not exclude very good players with very low N7.

I think Simba'd analysis actually support this. And to be honest I agree with your statement. Usually a high N7 is the indicator of a competent player.

I respectfully disagree. I have an N7 of ~550, but my CP is ~10000. I think I'm a pretty good player, I just choose not to promote my characters.

EDIT: and like chcknwng said, correlation=/=causation

Those who use the Claymoar have skill. Those who don't are scrubs and should feel bad.

Absolutely not.

I've seen N7 14's perform better than N7 120+

N7 is like equipment. Both can be an indicator of experience, but only one of these will benefit you in game.

Neither of these take any skill to put on.

I sold my soul to the Dark Lord Reegar a long time ago.

And now I can't find my way back to Lord Claymore any more. The Reegar doesn't let go of his servants easily.  :(

So there's at least some reasonable people saying there is a correlation between the N7 rating and ME3 skills.

I hope nobody is going to deny that. If they are, are you sure it's not because you just denying it because you hate promoting and therefore are always excluded from having a high rating?

Bah, promoting your classes over and over again has no correlation to skill, it just implies you have been playing the game for a long time. That is it.
