One of the few coherent posts in this thread.

To overthrow high N7 => good skill, you need to establish high N7 => bad skill. Not that low n7 => good skill. The number of posts in this thread proving this is minimal.

There are plenty of examples provided, including the post you quoted above.

To repeat some of these examples: missile glitching, credit hacking, being carried by others, grinding bronze/silver, buying packs for money. All of these contradicts the N7==skill argument.

That has rarely been my experience, was the point I (and others) tried to make. I'm not going to insult someone who thinks otherwise. That said, I just don't agree with that point. I've seen enough PUG lobbies with high N7 players to know they do well about as often as they don't.

Not that I really think n7 =skills, but it was established, to a statistical satisfaction, that there exists positive relationship between N7 and skills (in that case, points earned).

Another question is, are those n7 10's do better than the N7 1000s?

Where are the statistics regarding the positive relationship between N7 and skill? So far it's been anecdotal evidence on all sides.

Your question is a fair one, but I'd have to say I feel the same way about N7 10 as I do about N7 1000. Let's play a game. Show me what ya got. I'm not saying I assume either one will be bad, but I don't assume they'll be good, either.

Not a good representative for skill with all the mischief out there.

You play like the devil. And has low N7. You are the testimony that N7=/=Skill.

And yet it still remains that the overwhelming majority of High ranked N7 players tend to be talented and experienced players.  Its like a bell curve, and you are focusing on the outliers, and completely ignoring the majority.

High N7 =/= high skill.  But high N7 does correlate with play time and experience, which do correlate with skill.

A successful U/U/G game will give you enough XP to get a lvl 1 character up to lvl 10/11.

Another one takes you to lvl 14/15. From here it is almost like playing a lvl 20 character.

This "strategy" will increase your N7 rank quite fast and requires at least some skill, if you don't want to leech.

You might even learn something new about the character you are playing.

Playing lvl 1 characters in U/U/G lobbies with 3 randoms is fun. ;)

Discuss!

This but I like to start at level 6. And do platinum. That really levels you up quick. My take on N7 points:

N7<120 - This person is brand new.

N7>10,000 - Wow, this person has promoted a ton

120<N7<10,000 - Might tell me a little, but less than I'll figure out in the first 3 waves playing with them.

Cool points tell you more, as you can't avoid getting them. Or I guess it is harder to avoid getting them. 120/100,000 is probably a better player than 3,000/3,000.

If you got N7 points for every 1,000,000 or 10,000,000 in XP you accrued, even if your character were level 20, then I would be much more likely to agree with the OP. Or change it to conditional: High N7 probably means high skill. 3k is the bar? Fine. Lower than 3k does not mean unskilled, or have any bearing on skill, because plenty of really good players don't promote.

You are confusing causation and correlation. HIGH N7/CP IS correlated with better skill,

What is your evidence for this claim?

Again for those of you who think n7 is not a good indicator of pugs (read, pug) skill I'd refer you to Simba's thread. N7 is a very good predictor of how a player gonna perform,  most of the time.

Simba included challange points in the analysis and not N7 ratings: http://http://forum....aphs/?hl= simba

to be fair, to quote Simba:

Both N7 rank and Challenge points were significantly correlated with both Time played and Games played.

However, he/she made the mistake not counting weapons as an independent factor. So it very well could be the case that high CP people got higher scores not because they were more skilled, but simply because they had better weapons.

High N7 =/= high skill.  But high N7 does correlate with play time and experience, which do correlate with skill.

Quit trying to counter the argument in this way. High N7 can be obtained with minimal play time and experience.

But this is obvious, no one debates the correlation between N7 and experience. Talent is a different thing, IMO. You either have it or not. You cannot gain it by promotion.

Experience =/= skill. Experience is knowledge, skill is implementation. Some might be very knowledgeable but less skilled and vice versa.

I am sure it can.  Except that the far majority of players with High N7 gained it via traditional play time and game experience.  I honestly cant even remember the last time I have come across a high N7 ranked players and seen them play poorly.

Disagree. A bad player with a Talon X will have a harder time than a good player with an Arc Pistol I.

and I still dunno if "==" means equal or not equal.

also I thought the main way to gain n7 is by promoting.
