Meaning that you dont correct your "mistakes" that you make along the way including bad story-decisions, killing accidentally civilians, angering some of your companions (yes, even if you ruin your romance) etc etc. You stick with them no matter what and watch where your character goes if you guide him/her blindly with your guts alone (and not for example reading the da wiki. :P ).

Would it be fun to see do you manage to save the world in the way you desire if you do not give yourself second changes?

WHo is up for a challenge?

Challenge? I always play that way. First time, anyway; I add more metagaming as I replay the game so I get different content

DA2 was the first game I was able to play through without meta knowledge since my husband usually plays them first and spoils all the surprises.  I am so on board for DA:I.  Also, I'm not going to wait until my more knowledgeable 2nd playthrough to romance my top pick.  Poor fella/lady is going to go through hell with me as I blunder through this thing :P

I always do this, "goin' in blind" is great, really makes every choice a tense situation.

This is how I always played until the voice+paraphrase came along.

It remains to be seen to what extent DAI's dialogue system will overcome the limitations of the voice+paraphrase.

This is how I always play. What is more interesting is not reloading if you are killed in combat. This I will save for later.

I never reload on my first playthrough, why would anyone do that?

I'm totally up for it. It's been a while since I actually played a game in complete blind mode, usually these days I've read up on the game on wikipedia sites and so on, even though I don't really want to. This is mostly because I read about the games before I even buy them, but with DA:I I'll avoid spoilers as much as possible.

I usually do this the first time anyway aswell, I remember my first Mass Effect 2 playthrough where I ended up killing almost all of my crew because I took to long, there's a bunch of other games but anyway it would be interesting to see what happens.

I never do actually.

I usually do this with my first character as well. Alas, I still miss Solari, my first DAO character, who was permanently lost when my fat PS3 went YLOD on me, before Sony made the cloud available for game saves.

Oh, hey, while we're at it, allow to throw down another gauntlet: I challenge thread participants to play using the "Dead is Dead" method. Y'all know what I'm talking about, right? Oh, and I categorically refuse to play via that method, since I just don't have the time or patience for it. Good luck to those that do, though!

Challenge accepted!!!  :D

(To be honest I do usually re-load if I make a terrible mistake. :P But it'll be so much fun experiencing this game for the first time with all of you people as we all stumble blindly through it together. So, I will resist the temptation.)

I'll generally reload in combat a few times to see if the fight is winnable given my character's choices up to that point, but if the fight isn't winnable given those previous choices, then I'll declare that character dead and try a a different one.

I had more Wardens die during DAO than I had Wardens finish DAO.

I actually don't know what this means. Would someone clarify?

In any case, if it involves a great deal of time I doubt I will do it, but I am curious.

I think it means that when you die in the game, you don't reload your save or anything. You're dead, as in dead. You're just gonna have to make another character to play the game. At least, that's how I understood it.

Witcher 2 had a mode like this.

For me it was originally inspired by the Diablo 2 hardcore mode. If your character died it was dead permanently. Gone. RIP. Start again.

Personally I don't like starting new games like it. There is too  much to learn and too many things that can go wrong. However once you know the game well, and if you enjoy the gameplay, for me it is a really good way to add tension to the game. I enjoyed it a lot especially with ME2.

Ahh. That's cool. I can certainly respect the thrill it guarantees. I only replay games when I'm ready to experience the story very freshly again myself though and that kind of concern would plague the heck out of a "first ME run in two years" kind of setting. XD

I accept. Its hard, and I am dreadfully indecisive, but I want to play this game and make the choices I see fit without reloads and outside help.

I'm all for playing with no reloads, but I don't think I'd have the patience to play dead is dead.
