I always do this in my first play through, I did it all Dragon Age and Mass Effect games so far.
The only way to truly experience such games for the first time is to play it on your own first.

Yep. I plan on this. Then, I go the hella hella metagamed way on my second time.
Since I try to be a moral, rational person during my first playthroughs, I'm probably going to hell for my second playthrough.
You can only discover the game once so playing the first playthrough blind is essential to me, it's a unique experience. I'm sure I'll replay the game lots and lots of times so I'll have plenty of "meta-knowledge" playthroughs, there's no need to make the first one like that.
I always do this. I thought everybody did to be honest.
Later playthroughs will get meta enough if only so that I get the most content everywhere, but to experience the game for the first time I prefer to go in 'blind' to really get into the story and world and my character.

Yeah, I didn't know anyone played the first time any other way. That's the best way to really experience the game: Just dive in, and hope for the best!

Exactly. Playing otherwise, even with misleading dialog quotes, really does ruin the feel of a first playthrough. It's also the reason that with these sorts of games I littlerally do not pre-think my first character. I have a basic Idea of what CLASS and RACE I want to play first, but I don't give them a pre-set personality. I let my first playthrough dictate who they are as a character as I go along
Most of the time I end up with a bumbling do-gooder because that first character is always ME. What choices I would make. Any subsequent playthroughs are people in their own right, which personalities and morals (or non-morals) to match...
but that first playthrough? Mmm.
Isn't that the only way to play it? Bring it on. ![]()

Yeah, I will very likely play this way on my first and probably even second runs. Depending on how my first run goes, I might start looking up meta-cheats. But for the most part, I love not-knowing what happens. Not knowing is way better than knowing.
My first playthrough is always like this, the only exception being a total party kill or something.

I'm going to try and do this, provided that I don't do something I didn't mean to (like if I misinterpret what the dialogue choice really means). I have a track record of compulsively meta-gaming that I'm trying to quit. I did fairly well with ME3 in that regard aside from the quarian-geth conflict. It does make the experience better (for me at least) but sometimes I just can't stop myself...
The last time I did that, I was a pedophile in Dragon's Dogma.
The only time I ever reloaded on a first or second playthrough (apart from deaths and saving before I buy a piece of gear to test its appearance), is when Bethany died in the Deep Roads in DA2. I was like "Hell no!" and redid that entire segment to save her.

I'm up for that! I very rarely meta-game, anyways.
It's how I *try* to play, as in I don't generally reload for story decisions, with the notable exception of if I've misunderstood something or simply misclicked. So I'm in for that part.
I will not promise not to do it for puzzles, especially Tower of Hanoi ones or things like the fade maze... Come to think of it, I really hate puzzles in BW games. Good thing I like pretty much everything else.
Yep, no save scumming for me on the first playthrough. It's much more satisfying to earn the ending the first time around, even if it's the suck and die version.
I'll be doing this on my first playthrough. But does this mean playing with permadeath?
I plan on doing this for my first playthrough. First time playing DA2, Bethany died in the deep roads. I was tempted to reload but didn't. I don't think I will have a problem doing it with DAI.
I like this idea. I had already committed to playing with absolutely no wiki. I'll be offline for a while, I don't want spoilers and I don't want a wiki until I have thoroughly explored the game for myself.
I must say, it's an intriguing idea to play with no reloads when you screw up and kill someone but it makes it more realistic. Good idea, OP!
I don't think I've ever reloaded on an initial run. I usually correct "mistakes" on subsequent playthroughs.
I really suck at handling suspense *shamefaced* so I usually get the shiny-pretty game guide and play along with it, plotting my course as I go. But I fully admit part of me always wishes I'd avoided guides, forums and wikis after game release, just to have the pure reaction, in game as I blunder through... So! Challenge accepted.
I'll even go so far as to pinky swear <--- the most solemn and un breakable of vows.
That's how I play it, too. I don't usually reload but - and this is worse - when facing a decision I go and read up on all the possible outcomes so that I can pick the "perfect" one and don't have to reload. And I mean "perfect" not only in terms of the story but also with regard to gained xp and items. Sigh. On subsequent playthroughs I'm not that OCD anymore and can play more relaxed but I still never pick the "wrong" choices unless I force myself.
This time I don't want to spoiler myself but experience the game as is, all the bad decisions included. So - I'm in! No reading up allowed, the first playthrough will be full of blunders and mistakes.
I will allow for a couple of reloads when something happens that I REALLY didn't mean to (hello badly paraphrased choice wheel), but no peeking. Peeking is bad!
So, who is feeling like they could play their very first inquisitor and very first round of DAI story so that they use no re-loading at all.
Meaning that you dont correct your "mistakes" that you make along the way including bad story-decisions, killing accidentally civilians, angering some of your companions (yes, even if you ruin your romance) etc etc. You stick with them no matter what and watch where your character goes if you guide him/her blindly with your guts alone (and not for example reading the da wiki.
).
Would it be fun to see do you manage to save the world in the way you desire if you do not give yourself second changes?
WHo is up for a challenge?
This is how I play Bioware games anyway.
What about Iron Man rules? Anyone planning on trying that?
Iron Man = Voluntary permadeath (Delete save if you die)
