Support Category Changes:
We created redirect categories for each of the Dragon Age and Mass Effect games that will take you to Answers HQ which is the official technical support source. Here are a list of the redirects:
http://answers.ea.co...-p/dragon-age-2 – Dragon Age 2
http://answers.ea.co...gon-age-origins – Dragon Age: Origins
http://answers.ea.co...d-p/mass-effect – Mass Effect
http://answers.ea.co...p/mass-effect-2 – Mass Effect 2
http://answers.ea.co...p/mass-effect-3 – Mass Effect 3

We archived the BioWare Store Support & BioWare Points Help categories. Jessica created a topic in the Merchandise category that we will update with links to the official support locations for our various partners. BioWare Points help should be handled in the appropriate game section on Answers HQ.

Hey guys,

We are aware of the recent commercial spammer issue and our moderators are blocking those accounts as they are being created, flagging the spam groups for deletion, and we are putting new temporary measures into place to reduce the effectiveness of these spammers from bothering you about their weird sports and movie watching streams. This includes:
  • New groups must be created by someone whose account is associated with a game title
  • Users who create a new account and do not have a game title associated must have their first post approved by a moderator before it goes public
As others have mentioned, these spammers are annoying but they should not affect your account security or the functionality of the site. They are accessing the site the same way you are, and so the above measures will limit them from creating throwaway accounts to drop a single message.

Jesse and I will investigate more robust spammer features that we can enact for the long term. We appreciate everyone's patience and you have my apologies if this affected your enjoyment of the site today.

Cheers,
Jessica

We've fixed a problem with converted BSN topic subscriptions not allowing you to unsubscribe from the "content I follow" page, not telling you that you're subscribed when you're viewing the thread, and also not sending out notification emails. We have defaulted all broken subscriptions to send daily updates.

If you are curious how you remove subscriptions the easiest way is probably from this page:

We've been reviewing the way groups have been used versus the vision we have for the site since we have launched it and have created the following new rule that went into place today:

9. Groups must abide by all Site Rules and must exist to discuss BioWare-related subject matter

We recognize the desire of some players to have smaller conversations or discussions among a more personal subset of the community. However, because the Forum exists to discuss BioWare products, please create and maintain groups around related subject matter. We understand that sometimes, straying off-topic is unavoidable, but if you want to participate in a group completely unrelated to BioWare, you can create or join the conversation in pre-existing threads in The Lobby, the off-topic sub-forum. Groups there are subject to the same rules as the rest of the Forum. By creating a group, owners are responsible for understanding and being knowledgeable of the site rules, and they agree to moderate their group content. BioWare moderators will follow up on any reports and take appropriate action, which may include closing groups that are inappropriate or largely off-topic.

Groups that are already in existence will have one week to modify themselves to be more on-topic in order to stay active before we ask them to delete permanently and move to a thread on The Lobby or another site. All groups are subject to the same moderation that the rest of the forum is subject to.

This is largely to keep the focus of the site on BioWare culture and our games as well as to prevent toxic subcommunities from forming that we cannot contain. I undertand the desire to form groups to discuss outside topics, but I encourage you to organize with those individuals and find communities elsewhere that can better support those discussions then come here for BioWare related content.

We're pleased to launch three new features for the BioWare Forum today which will enhance your experience on the site, connect you to other users, enable further privacy, and encourage deeper discussion.
  • Newsfeed – You can find this feature in several places for easy access. Most prominently you’ll see it at the top of the Forum between the “Groups” and “About” tab. You can also access it from your profile page. For customization options, go to “My Settings”.
  • Profile Privacy – Explore this feature by visiting “My Settings” and the “Profile Privacy” tab. It also works hand-in-hand with your “Ignore Preferences” and the “Block” feature to give additional privacy to your profile as well as enhance the usability of your Friends list. This is customizable to give you more peace of mind about who can see what you post. Remember, non-registered users can never see your profile.
  • Delete Account Toggle – Also under “My Settings” (which you can find by clicking the Control Panel aka your user name in the upper right hand corner of the page by your icon), is the new ability to delete your Forum account should you no longer wish to be a member of our community. This will not delete your Origin account, only your account on this site. After clicking “My Settings,” you can see the tab that says “Delete My Account” which will flag the moderation team to delete your account. Once your account has been deleted, all your posts will be listed as “Guest_YourUserName”. We are not able to manually delete all your posts due to the time limitation of our moderation team, so please do not ask.
We hope you enjoy these new features and we look forward to hearing you’re feedback! The Forum Development team is working on additional features and bug fixes to make this site more fun and engaging so keep an eye out for future updates.

We should go,

Jessica and Jesse

We've added new game ownership icons that will go below your profile picture when in topic/thread view mode. As part of this we are removing the game links from that view but they will still be visible on your profile page.

These new icons are set based on your EA account and will work for the Dragon Age and Mass Effect games. Please note that detection of the original Mass Effect is not perfect as that game did not use the EA account system.

Please post in our site help section if you have any problems with this new feature.

The closed "The Lobby (Off Topic)" section has been moved into the archived section.

We've added game icons for Jade Empire. They will appear if you own a copy of Jade Empire from the Origin store.
