For me probably Bioshock Infinite, but I've always thought the fallout games are a bit overrated also. 

 

I don't think the Fallout games are overrated, really. The stand-alone games (prior to Bethesda), both sucked, and very few people actually (played and/or) liked them. The first two main games were excellent for their time. Particularly Fallout 2, because it was very much the same game as the first, but with different areas and characters. Furthermore, most of what the second did were improvements. FO1 & 2 were on par with Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 and Planescape: Torment at the time.

 

To continue my point, Fallout 3 (which probably is overrated) doesn't get much praise past the big Fallout fans, and FO: New Vegas is less popular (despite it clearly being the better game, thank you CoD fanboys who'd disagree).

I hadn't thought of that. My reasoning is that NV connects the game to it's roots of the first two main games.

 

Also, FO3 is reminiscent of TES in that it has very little substance beyond exploration and graphics (though it did have substance in the main story and Three Dog/GNR). Bethesda did improve themselves through FO3, but NV improved on the new format far more than Beth improved on it's own story-telling (since TES: IV) and character interactions.

I personally prefer new vegas for a variety of reasons. I've just gotten into the habit of posting the toaster everytime someone brings up which is better.

There's no doubt New Vegas has far better companions. But aside from that...writing (expect the companion writing), story, gameplay, graphics, atmosphere, music, technical smoothness...I gotta hand it all to Fallout 3.

Yeah, this. I loved Ocarina of Time, but many seem to hail it as the best game that was ever made... and it least from my perspective, it's not quite that. I suppose it's up to Preferences/Tastes as the previous iterations(ignoring CD:I) and OoT were very different games.

As far as my pick? Grand Theft Auto Five. I really liked some of the refinements they made and the Multiple-Protagonist mechanic made for a healthy change of pace. The rest(outside of eye candy/set pieces/etc.) didn't impress me. The sentiment is similar to my experiences with Uncharted 1/2.

No you can enjoy being a daddy's boy and having to need a dlc to complete the main storyline.
