Aside from the companions, Fallout 3 had better writing than New Vegas. Not without it's hiccups, but overall a very satisfying story.
New Vegas probably wouldn't have been as good as it was if Sawyer hadn't had much of the story in the works since...2003? At least?
As far as my pick? Grand Theft Auto Five. I really liked some of the refinements they made and the Multiple-Protagonist mechanic made for a healthy change of pace. The rest(outside of eye candy/set pieces/etc.) didn't impress me. The sentiment is similar to my experiences with Uncharted 1/2.
The fact that GTA 5 was able to jam that much content into that generation of consoles (the 360 especially) was pretty impressive though.
Here I am making an offer of a mature conversation. Instead, you give me silly childish comments.
Is this because you're incapable of such a conversation or simply unwilling? Perhaps you prefer this to kept in an arena where you have competence? Where the 'winner' is decided by who can post as many little 'your game is garbage' comments as possible?
Mature conversation with you is about as practical as a screen door on a submarine. All you're doing here right now is attacking, insulting, and belittling because people dare to have an opinion that isn't in line with yours.

Yea, go find your Dad. (whom I couldn't give 2 shits about, since Beth doesn't give me any reasons to)
Call of duty franchise.

You do know the main story of FO3 was just FO(GECK) and Fallout 2(Enclave and the FEV) stories mashed together horribly with a stupid parent aspect that was done horrible I hope? Also Chris was the one who oversaw most of NV writing, not Josh so you just show you don't know anything about NV or it's devs so please stop talking about things you clearly don't know about.

Hamburgers, oh wait.......most overrated game, thought it was sandwhich
I would say the whole Call of Duty series since 4 is the most overrated series of games.
and just because I can, FO3 > New Vegas. Mainly because of the atmosphere argument that has already been made around 50 million times on the internet.
Halo.
It's true. Among other things, Fallout 3 did a brilliant job of illustrating the sheer poverty of the wasteland, and also the hope. The story did a very good job of progressively introducing the player to more and more advanced groups through Megaton, then Rivet City, then the Citadel, then Raven Rock.
New Vegas...not so much. Vegas and the casinos were dull and drab instead of bright and glamorous. The desert was brown and flat and ugly instead of serene and ruggedly beautiful.
lol, what? Where in all the kindergarten-level writing did you get all that from Fallout 3? And if your only argument against New Vegas is "lolitsbrown" (and let's be honest, Fallout 3 was hardly colorful itself), then I think you just need to stop talking forever.

Seeing as you think Mr.Hosue and the NCR should not be at odds, I'm not surprised you feel this way because unlike FO3, NV is complex and not for the I want a hero type.

IMO, the Metro games do a much better job at the kind of atmosphere Fallout 3 was aiming at.
While i personally don't grant Metro much respect in most regards given FO does what it tries to do better in my eye, you have a point.

A Mario game has better atmosphere then FO3.

Anybody bring up GTA IV yet?

I'll take Bethesda's design over Obsidian's any day of the week. So FO3 for me. I don't even have a desire to try New Vegas after playing Alpha Protocol. What a wreck.

Well some people like walking cutouts so Bethesda is their fill.
