I'm obviously not going to spend money and time on future installments of a series if the first one leaves me unimpressed. That's just common sense.

It's also the entire point of offering me the first episode for free in the first place. If they aren't comfortable with their work being judged by their first entry, I really don't see why they would be doing that.

No, it really is not.

I was pretty shocked how mediocre I found the first episode of The Walking Dead, including the writing. Didn't bother playing the other episodes after that.

Not sure why it got the praise it did, unless things dramatically went up in quality in the future episodes. Judging from the fairly constant review scores, they didn't.

Frankly, the praise for the Walking Dead I've seen from a few of the BioWare writers makes me uneasy. I didn't see anything I want them to emulate.

Really? Not even how it handles the impacts of your decision to perfection?  You cannot compare the consequences of the walking dead to any of the Bioware games. The walking dead has decision making as the prime concept in it's game model.

Although I hate the term overrated....

Skyrim, Morrowind, every GTA game.

I cannot fathom the love some have for the GTA series.

So Saints Row too right? And Watch Dogs when that drops?

By GTA I meant the GTA series....

Last time I checked, Saints Row and Watch Dogs weren't part of the GTA series. Just games involving some of those themes.

Not that I like Saints Row. It's just not overrated.

Bioshock Infinite.

In retrospect I tend to agree, but man there were parts of that game I loved.  All around meh, with some great moments.

Yes, the shadow of GTA is cast so long, no other open world game will ever escape it. Long live GTA, the grand sausage fest.

Generally, when I say GTA I'm referring as well to Mario, Myst, Gabriel Knight, Legacy of Kain, Mortal Kombat and Star Ocean.

I thought everyone else did too.

I hate the internet. I can't tell if some of these posts are sarcasm or not.

Stupid emotionless text.  <_<

Good rule of thumb with me is that if you have reason to suspect I'm being mean chances are I'm just being off-kilter instead.

Besides, you're a rainbow kitty, so I would never be mean toward you anyway.

Now as for J to the Ree to the zy, I couldn't tell you.

"Just games involving some of those themes"

"Games involving some of those themes"

"Involving some of those themes"

And this: "I cannot fathom the love some have for the GTA series."

You ever thought that those "Themes" as you call them, are why people enjoy GTA?

Someone urinate in your Cheerios this morning, or are you just a GTA fanboy/girl?

I know those themes are why people love it. I just don't understand WHY one would love said themes and by extension the games themselves, tyvm. I'm not a huge fan of the whole 'murder and theft' thing that GTA seems to push. Don't really understand why anyone would be, because I prefer not to think on the mindset of those who like it.

You serious? So are people who play games like this messed up in the head or something? Is this not just entertainment for entertainment sake? Are people that read violent books and watch movies deranged in some way now?

I don't play, nor like, Saints Row. Don't recall saying I did...

It's just not as 'overrated' as GTA is, IMO. And this thread is nothing but opinion, anyways.

Just because someone enjoys it in a game doesn't mean anything

That's the kind of mindset the News tries to blame video games for

EDIT: Especially when some people feel the need to put words in my... post, I guess?

No one brought up the "mindset" of why people play certain games either, yee-yee wording.
