How 'bout scrapping both sexes and making the desire demons totally androgynous? As in impossible to tell for sure yet appealing to both. No one wins and everyone wins. Also I never really felt like desire demons took a female form specifically with the intent of seduction, I always got the impression that they kinda have an aura of hot steamy sex appeal that's not attached to any actual worldly ideas of what sexuality entails. The fact that they happen to be purple women with metal nipple-tassels (seriously, aren't those cold?) just happened to be an imaginative failure on the part of the devs.
Can we get a male desire demon this time?

I don't think DA has anymale looking demons. Just desire demons and amorphous things.
OK, would you settle for "not distinctly female"?
To me, all of the other demons look more "male" than "female", if they had to be assigned a gender at all. They also tend to have male voices if they speak.

There are male desire demons (in 'real-world' demonology), they're known as incubi (incubuses) instead of succubi.

Desire demons are sort of Lust, Envy and perhaps Greed consolidated into one from the Seven Sins. Greed might be more a Hunger Demon's forte.
I think the reason that incubi don't show up as much as succubi in modern fantasy is that they would come off as more overtly rapey. IIRC, in the original folklore both varieties had sex with people against their will. Sleep paralysis probably gave rise to the myths.

I'd like to see Desire demons with a bit more subtlety and trickery. Rather than the obvious in your face half naked demon approach

I guess so, but "Not distinctly female" doesn't mean male. We kinda have a tendency as a society to refer to agendered things (or things with unknown genders) as "he". I try to avoid it. I do wish the pride demons (who are the only other demons we really hear speak that regularly) had female voices mixed in, the same way Desires have male voices mixed in to better distinguish them as agendered. But meh.

This is more or less how I feel too, but it's never gonna happened. They've hyper-sexualized desire demons and I don't really see it changing. To go in to full-whine mode, this bothers me more than it should because it kinda goes against everything I like about Bioware games. I frequently get the impression that most main-stream games are distinctly designed for people that find women sexually attractive (and I'm being generous here...I don't think that developers are thinking of lesbians that often). I get that impression much more rarely with Dragon Age, which is part of why I like the series. There doesn't seem to be that many sexy women running around purely for fan-service reasons, and when there are these women seem to be coupled with sexy men... Except when it comes to the desire demons; the artists responsible for designing them seemed to think "Well, desire=sexy women, right? Good) completely ignoring half the population.
Changing desire demons is hardly a priority, and I'd certainly rather have one androgynous model than one male and one female model, but I also would like to see some variety in the way the epitome of sexual desire is presented in the game.

I don't have the game running right now, but I seem to recall that in DA:O's codex, desire demons were described as usually appearing as females. Usually. Not always. And when appearing in front of a straight female or a gay male, you'd think they'd tend to be, well, male--something that looks desirable in the eye of the beholder and all that.
Unfortunately, that would also require us to select sexuality in the very start of the game, and to me at least, that would just be a little strange. It would also require more resouces--extra voice acting, extra modeling and art.
I do think it's unfortunate that Bioware chose to represent desire demons as they did, without having a male counterpart. To me, it's not about fanservice, it's about, you know, equality. I don't want to be forced to see a jiggling nearly-nude female in nipple clamps up close and personal, and yet desire demons are major enough that the camera usually pans right to them and shows them off. They didn't do those designs and animations and camera angles for straight females, that's for sure. I'm not saying "change them," because we know that desire demons do in part represent sexual lust, but for variety's sake I wouldn't mind a few scantily clad desire demons taking the male form and getting equal camera love. In a way, their appearance just makes it ridiculously easy for me to shrug off most if not all of what the desire demons offer my characters.
Edit: Lest this post be taken the wrong way...
I think it'd be weird to choose sexual preference at the start of the game because you are what you are, and your character is what they are. It doesn't affect anything else about your character other than who they find attractive. So it would be strange to suddenly have it be part of character creation.
Also, when desire demons are shaking their stuff in front of me, as if I should find that attractive by default and maybe be more easily influenced by them out of "distraction," I confess, it's really hard to take them seriously. It's not that I want sexy man-shakes to take their place, but, you know, it kind of undermines their purpose when all they do is make me roll my eyes at them.

You done gone done it now son.
But seriously whatever your personal feelings about mostly naked purple men it's a valid point to bring up. Depending on whether or not you see the desire demon taking a female form specifically for seduction ofc. But lets assume they do it would mean seduction demons are totally useless against like half the population. That's just not smart demoning right there.

Straight women and gay men aren't supposed to be interested in wealth and power? I hope I get to tell Morrigan that when I see her in DAI.

Theres nothing seductive about those things....They are scary as hell. A monster trying to be a woman, yet it could tear you apart easily if it wished to. Think about it in real life perspective, not as you level 17 Inquisitor

I meant from a purely sexual seduction POV. I'm aware that desire demons use all forms of desire but let's not pretend like physical desire is absent.

I was introduced to an Andrej Pejic just yesterday by a friend... and actually think that this is probably a pretty appropriate idea.

I googled her (according to Wikipedia, it seems Andrej prefers "she" I guess!) as well and can definitely see how she hits several checkboxes for attractive man and attractive woman (depending on one's preferences, of course). Almost uncanny that I can take one outfit and go "woman" and with another outfit just as easily go "that's a man!"

Andrej is gender fluid. Sometimes he (saying he for conveniences sake, here, due to his sex) goes by he, other times she.
And I am so down for androgyny for the desire demons. I think it could help drive home the fact that they can shape themselves into whatever they wish to be in order to screw you over.
