No promises, but that can help a creature find it's way onto the roster in the future.

I see a desire demon with thigh-high boots in our future.

A different, genderless/gender ambiguous design might be a better option. Something like Malcolm in Legacy would avoid a metric ton of issues.

This could be done but I assume they will be a lot of reusability in the models. Insteading of building something for the ground up they just improve upon the previous model.

She's a woman because she represents desire and lust in general. It's not a big issue. Instead of asking them to waste more resources to please the social justice tumblr warrior crowd, how about they spend that money making the game polished and big so we can explore new dungeons and zones.

And... only women have desire and lust? What? I don't get it. That statement makes no sense. Why would someone who represents desire and lust be necessary one gender and not the other, since last I checked, it's a human 'vice' not a gendered one.

People understand that Bioware does not have the time or resources to change it now, but that doesn't mean its beyond criticism or not worth remembering for future reference. The next time they need to design a female monster or a monster that embodies sexuality, a better design can be had for questioning the lazy assumption that women = sex. Because that's what the desire demon is - she's a lazy design that comes from unquestioning acceptance of women being viewed as representative of all things sexual, a viewpoint that is hackneyed, overdone, and really only relevant to heterosexual men.

if bioware had to make a male and female model for all character and enemy models it would be major endeavor but on the positive side there would be funny things like Dragon balls or busty Ogres

It's a new engine. Isn't everything built from the ground up?

There are male and female versions of dragons.

I could be wrong but from a usability perspective they could have improved on the current models. Although it would be totally dependant on how their engine reads the model data. I was really just assuming haha. Some engines, read model and texture data the same way while others read it differently. According to the implementation.

One of the things that irritates me around this argument is that it assumes that desire demons assume the form they do as to be ****** material for whomever they're talking to. The idea that a creature is doing something wrong because it's not rearranging its body to your tastes is gross no matter what sort of social equality veneer you put on it.

I'm just going to quote and repeat this, because people aren't getting it.

My personal reasoning is that desire demons take on a female form because both men and women are more likely to do something for a woman.

There are?

EDIT:

Or is it "is" in this instance? Eh, grammar.

According to the Codex, any dragon with wings is female. The Drakes are male.

Thank you, citizen, for coming in here to moderate other people's requests.  It is much more important that Bioware spends their resources improving the aspects of the game that you enjoy and don't waste any time or money attending to anyone else's interests.  I don't know how this thread lasted 9 pages without your thoughtful response.

Social justice...?? What is that even supposed to mean?

You do realize that, for a lot of people, men represent desire and lust instead of women? What is it with this ridiculous notion that only females represent these things? Straight women are as interested in naked sexed up men as straight men are interested in naked sexed up females. I don't know, I guess this is a news flash for some people.

God I would love to see a male desire demon. It's bloody awkward, my uninterested warden standing there while the lady demon caresses her breasts.

Bottom line - both genders like sex. Simple!

Edit: Sorry just read Gaider's post making basically the same "resources" argument. I have a lot of respect for David, but it just saddens me because again this whole "resources" thing is a win for men and a loss for women. It's sounding like a broken record of an excuse. :P

Wow lookie me, getting all worked up. :P Bad Mes, BAD!

.... if you call that a win for men aren't you being a little rude to gay men?

Except for the Old Gods. They have wings and penises.

If we can't have a male desire demon, can my Inquisitor at least have the option to make an appalled/insulting comment at the demon's outfit and breast fondling?

That's the one comment you have? Then sorry let me elaborate - win for straight men and gay women, loss for straight women and gay men. Jebus.

But wait... "resources"! :P

Honestly I agree, in reality I think this would be the best - well definitely quickest - solution.

the point is calling only female desire demons a win for men is sexist and hypocritical.

... I'm being sexist?

I'm being sexist?

There's a naked demon lady caressing her breasts in a video game, with no male equivalent, and I'm being sexist?

Please help me to understand. I need a more detailed explanation of your thought process here.
