So I remembered a topic made in august about a nice theory:

(link : http://social.biowar...ndex/17274105/1 sorry, can't find it on the new forum, all credits to Lord Aesir)

Think about it, the only survivor to mysterious veil tear event. Did they survive by chance?  Or maybe they didn't survive at all.  Maybe the inquisitor is like Cole, a spirit that came across the veil confused and more or less melded with the memories of a mortal, forgetting about being a spirit and taking on the mortal's identity.

Just a crackpot theory, but I could see it happening.

Now that we know the Inquisitor is able to rip the veil himself and summon demons, regardless of his/her class and race, this theory looks more interesting to me.

First it's theorized the Inquisitor is possessed by the Maker. Now he/she is a spirit from the Veil. Is it really that hard to think the Inquisitor is just an average person with some special talents?

Remember, that preview may not of been correctly translated. So until a fully correct article is released by leery of the information.

That said, my thought is that the Inquisitor is some kind of "key" to the veil. S/he can open and close it whenever its convenient.

I wouldn't be surprised if that turns out to be a twist at the end of the game. In fact if the Inquisitor gets wounded and appears dead at the beginning of the game during that first encounter with the Veil, I may now be expecting it.

In that case it would be dishonest to advertise that the player can choose which race to play.

Oh, you dug up my old thread. Neat. :)

I'm with St. Victorious on this. I wouldn't accept the Gamestar information as gospel, it could be a mistranslation or even a misinterpretation on the writer's part. Even if the Inquisitor has such an ability, it might be Mage only.

Well, not if said spirit simply saved the Inquisitor from death a la Wynne.

You're still a dwarf/elf/human/qunari, just a dwarf/elf/human/qunari with a spirit stuck in them.

Of course that causes some disturbing implications for any romance scenes. The LIs then get involved in an unintentional threeway with a spirit or a demon.

LI: Its cold in my tent, all alone...

Spirit: "Awwwww yeah! Dis gun b good."

We'll all think it was some spirit of hope or faith or something that saved the Inquisitor, but really...it was just the old spirit of debauchery looking for some hell yeah time.

I can get behind that.

I kind of wish we could discover the Inquisitor to be a spirit, or possessed by one.  In Cole's case, I think it's not so much that he is a possessed boy, but the spirit believes until the end that it is the boy--and eventually I suppose it just adopts that shape as its own.  The same could be said of the Inquisitor.

I wouldn't mind a spirit associating with, but not possessing, the Inquisitor, either.  Or possessing without merging?  Then you could consult with it, which might be interesting.

Anders was interesting because he both claimed that Vengeance/Justice was part of him, and yet wasn't.  He at one point said they were one and the same, but later spoke as if Justice/Vengeance were speaking to him separately.

So, I'm not really sure how it would work, but I doubt that will be the case.  There will probably be something else that's special about the Inquisitor that causes the unique powers.

....wouldn't that make the race options kinda pointless?

I don't think that he's something like Cole, but more something like Wynne. When The Veil tore, many, many, MANY benevolent spirits entered in his/hers body and are now keeping him/her alive + extra Fade Powers.

It would be split personality at best Eveangaline.

And even then, more likely something internal, a ghost in the shell.

But yes, that would make the racial options less important than Origins.

DA:O - Race is identifier, 'Human', 'Elf', 'Dwarf'

DA2 - No choice but 'Human'

DA:I - Race choice, but identifier is more as 'Inquisitor'

I doubt race will matter all that much in DA:I, but I'm sure some dialogue will be different, and I hope for some unique race quests/outcomes/choices.

(DA:O did have the 'Warden' identifier, but it still imo will be seen to have more focus on race than DA:I will. I could be entirely wrong.)
