The situation comes across as far more desperate. Instead of being anonymous faces in the Psychotic Biotic's fan club, Ensign Prangley steps up to lead in Jack's place. There's some really good character-building dialogue in Orion Hall. After talking to Prangley, one of the other students approaches you, uneasily telling you that she has just killed for the first time and asking Shepard how they dealt with it.
Damn, is it possible to send Jack through the vents?

Yeah, pretty lulzy how a biotic Shepard forgets about Pull with Victus' son.
It's really silly that Eva Core and Kai Leng can outrun a Vanguard Shepard.

Don't upgrade the Normandy's armor. Jack will always be the one to die.Damn, is it possible to send Jack through the vents?

ME2 Suicide Mission guide
I brought a different combination of survivors into ME3 in each of my four playthroughs. I think the only ones I haven't killed at some point are Garrus, Tali, Zaeed, and Grunt.

Why? What's the difference?
Pretty much what Deinon said, with Jack around the mission becomes an ode to how awesome she is (which I already know) and she overshadows or completely displaces all of the smaller (and in my opinion) better written moments. Without her there it becomes a story of a group of young and inexperienced, although gifted, adults facing a tough situation.
I actually use gibbed to flag Jack as dead (I can't bring myself to actually kill her) for the purpose of that mission then bring her back to life afterwards.

Cool, never tried that. I might have to flag Tali as dead for the dreadnought mission and bring her back afterwards in the FemShep run I'm doing now (I can't bring myself to kill her, either). I understand Xen is a riot.

It's really silly that Eva Core and Kai Leng can outrun a Vanguard Shepard.
Even just sprinting like a normal person allows you to catch up and even pass her. But then she does the Anderson turbo boost and hoofs it past you.
Although I do enjoy charging her right as she goes up the ladder and then getting on. That way VanguardSheps head keeps colliding with her butt. To quote David, "Immature and silly, but there it is."

Xen is a riot. So's Bau without Kasumi. Sanctuary might be better without Miranda, if only because Shepard can actually choose what to do with Lawson.

I always enjoyed Miranda hurling people through the air with Biotics.

I agree (and Miranda's my favorite so I only ever killed her a couple of times for science) but the last third of the game is so linear that even a tiny choice matters.

Oh, now you've done it.Bioware really had a damn good idea with the engineer interrupt on Omega.
I demand more stuff like that.
Something David this way comes...
Personally, I agree 100%. Like in DA:O, how certain characters react entirely differently to you based on who you are (ex: your reception on first approach to the Dalish camp).

If Miranda isn't in ME3 you can watch her sister and father die. Here's the video

I've never done it with Tali either. All though it might be slightly more complicated because she is also a squadmate so I'm sure she has more flags and stuff.
The other fun trick is using both Kaidan and Ashley.

It seems like he's been a lot more subdued for the last couple of days.
I wonder if his tool spree has tired him out.

You could always not recruit her in ME2 and let a squadmate die because you have no shields. I've done that a lot.

Everyone should go through the default playthrough at least once, it is very good, much more depressing than imports though, but worth it. Be warned, once you play through it you may not be able to see your imported playthroughs the same way again, they just seem like alternate universes to me now.
Well, I wouldn't want to make ME3 even more depressing.
Maybe with a Shepard who uses the default appearance, which would make him feel less like one of mine even though I'd probably still end up roleplaying no matter what.

I'd really like to see this. How are Shepard's responses here? Do they give a few varied options like Shepard's conversation with the Virmire survivor in ME1?

Indeed. At least one for every class. I want my Shepard to go all Predator on somebody's ass.
And since there was some confusion in the past I don't mean the shitty default pistol.

Hopefully less of a burden of imported variables will free up some resources for more class/background reactivity.

Thanks!
That video was awesome. Shepard's Renegade speech at the end ("Someday that anger will be the only ammunition you have left - and Jason Prangley's going to save your life again.") must be the best I've heard from him in ME3. Garrus easily taking down that barrier was great too.

Grissom Academy is perhaps the only mission I prefer with its respective ME2 character alive.
I mean, the thing with Rodriguez was somewhat interesting, but other than that, meh.
Then again, I am shamelessly biased.

Javik's line was better if you have him take it down.
