Both shields and barriers are primarily a defense against high speed projectiles. If barriers are a product of one's biotic potential, which is ability to control mass, it would appear that stopping projectiles is the only thing they can do. However everything relevant here has a mass. Even the combusted air molecules or moving electrons within atoms so that would make barriers good vs everything. But energy doesn't exactly have a mass...and we have heat, cold, electricity...I've got nothing....help me BSN

IIRC, in ME2 anything that did damage to the brain (be it biotic, electrical or concussive) would be effective against barriers. From the top of my head- Biotic charge, concussive shot, neural shock and not 100% sure but I think overload was effective against barriers too.  Pure biotic powers like warp or reave too, obviously.

I liked the ME2 system better as well, but what I didn't like was class-weapon restriction.

This.

Overload was specifically weak against barriers and neural shock didn't work through protections. I don't think it even did any damage actually. What was effective against barriers was high force and other biotics.

It's been a while since I played ME2 and by "a while" I mean before I knew BSN existed. It's strange, I remember overloading enemies with barriers all the time... was I really that much of a scrub?

Edit: "Starting at rank 3, overload will cause enemy weapons to overheat for 6 seconds." Probably that's why.

So there you have it, makes sense that things that impact a biotic's nervous system should also as a result impact on barrier strength if we go by my theory about biotic barriers being powered by the bearer's biotics.
Since only biotics have a biological factor, I would put everything else in 'tech' category since it is all synthetic.

The problem is that you are attempting to apply logic to this game. Stop immediately, and don't ask questions above your pay grade.

It's a very good question. It's actually similar to the mind-boggling problem of how 2 Atlases can suddenly appear in the basement of Glacier.

I actually liked ME2 'system' best. The insanity was a b!tch though because of that and everything had everything. But power/weapon efficiency vs defenses was far more pronounced that in ME3.

Urgh! I don´t miss the armored husks/abominations, especially from the derelict reaper mission.

also, why is disruptor ammo good vs Barriers?

Well disruptor ammo is the bain of most biotics squads I see no reason why it shouldn't **** on biotic barriers as well.  :D

Reaper tech teleportation. Not responsible for extra breasts or testicles added in the teleportation process.

Because space magic.

Not to mention......  Its a game.  Yes, its not real!

Applying physics to a fake universe full of fake physics - or even applying fake physics in that fake universe .....

Its kind of like having a social gathering for reclusive people.
