When I played the female story a long time ago her fiancé is murdered. I just started the male version and his fiancée is not killed. Does it differ in any other way?

As a female, you wind up at a different start point after the wedding (in the Arl's palace). As a male you start in the Alienage and there is some discussion. The female can get her wedding ring.
It's been a while since I played the male origin, so there may be other differences.
What I really remember was the difference in tone and emotional impact. The female story very much felt personal in a way the male story line did not.

City Elf Female = Beatrix Kiddo
Also, elf females in general are better, just for being easier to make (imo).

If you've played to the end after the women are saved and have seen that the male fiance is killed while the female is spared, I don't know why you would need to ask if there's anything different. You've seen for yourself.

I didn't know if they had anything different when the city elf goes back to the elven alienage. Does he see his fiancee again? Maybe the beginning is the only thing different.

You have an opportunity to talk to your female fiancee after she and the other women are saved, but nothing comes of it. She breaks off the engagement and mentioned she might go into business.

So she is gone and he won't see her when he is taking out the slavers on his return visit as the warden.

Yep, had to check the wikia. You have to ask your friends and family on your return visit about her, and they tell you she used her dowry money to return to Highever. She'd likely be heading into Howe's control, so i hope she didn't end up sold to Tevinter. Nothing about her ultimate fate on the wikia.
