Who Is The "Spirit Healer" This Time? Solas?

I was just thinking and all DA games and many DLCs had a spirit healer in them. Wynne in DAO Anders in DAA and DA2. Sketch and Finn in DLCs.

I think there is a very high chance one of mage companions will have high end healing abilities aka "spirit healer". Is Solas this mage or will there be a 3rd mage possibility dramatic hand mustache guy? (Dorian?)

Vivienne gives a full dps mage vibe.

I wouldn't be surprised if none of the companion mages were spirit healers.

I have a suspicion that Spirit Healer as a specialization is going to be thrown out for both the PC and companions with how health regen (or lack of) will work. If that's not the case then yeah, I'd agree that it's likely not Vivienne.

Which is why I put the spirit healer in quotation. It means a mage who has high end healing abilities such as combat revive, it doesn't mean a spirit healer spec is involved.

Vivienne is probably a warlock.

Solas appears to be an elemental wizard.

I daresay that the only healin' we'll be gettin this time is of the sexual persuasion.

It sounds like it is going to be Solas, given that his backstory is that he is an expert on the Fade.

My guess would be that Vivienne's spells are going to be more damage-based, whereas Solas skillset is going to be geared more towards heals and buffs.

I was kind of hoping we'd be able to spec them how we liked.

A big complaint about DA2 is that with Anders being the only healer, a lot of people felt compelled to bring him along for support.

With health regen gone and healing mages likely going to be even more important than in past games, I'd really rather they not force it on us again.

Well since healing itself is rare among mages to keep up with lore they do that. Bethany can heal too but she does not have high end healing abilities like Anders does. My guess is all mages might possess some healing capabilities however only one of them will have the high end healing abilities, such as combat revive.

Too bad Bethany leaves soon though.

I hope they don't only allow one companion to be the legit healer. I don't want a situation where I'm stuck with one option for a healer again, even if I don't like that companion.

Really depends on what they're doing with the healing trees, anyway.

Healing seems to be one of the primary specializations of the Dalish (per WoT), although their avoidance of schools of magic involving spirits means it's quite different than the Circle based specialization of Spirit Healer. According to WoT: "Their spells have evolved to be deeply rooted in nature, manipulating earthly forces with a heavy emphasis on herbalism and healing." Huh another hint Merrill would've made for a terrible keeper. Not a heal spell to be found on her.

Anyways I hope I can at least throw heal spells on Viv. If need be I'll just have the Inq be the healer but I rather not be stuck with a single healer companion.

Vivienne healing is a hilarious image that I just cannot shake. It's not right, something of an abomination to witness. Similar to giving Morrigan healing spells.

It is unnatural.

? I don't see what's amusing about a First enchanter being capable in all the schools of magic (save bloodmagic obviously) . If anything one would think that's a requirement.

Edit; THAT'S THE THIRD TIME I EDITED THIS POST. STICK. STIIIIIICK.

Not a thing about her besides a title even begins to approach the mere suggestion that she would be inclined or adequately capable of such.

It's like watching a 90s LAPD officer being nice to someone who's not white.

We don't know everything about her to even make that assumption

It would make sense for healing spells to be available to a Dalish mage (and possibly Solas if he's Dalish), given what WoT addressed about the focus of their magical schools, but I'm wondering how that will work for a companion like Vivienne, or even another mage companion (since we still have four that haven't been officially confirmed). I suppose it depends on whether or not the player can define their school of specialization, or if it's pre-determined, like it was with Wynne and Anders.

Don't we have like a paragraph's worth of information on her?

They're nice to people who aren't white now? :P

We don't know everything about her to even make that assumption

She's called the 'Iron Lady', she's self absorbed, self interested, ruthless and politically cunning. Know plenty enough about her to 'guffaw' at the mere thought of her even being a part time healer. Story wise, even Morrigan remarked that she herself was no healer. Seeing as Viv appears to be the closest thing to oldschool Morrigan...

Won't rule it out conclusively, but I'm willing to bet money on her not healing.

Or you be nice to a person that has a shaved head.

Studies have shown that insufficient hair upon the scalp leads to immoral thoughts which naturally evolves into immoral behavior.

It would. But I personally believe all mages should have lesser healing skills. I mean...taking care of yourself on the road is kind of something I'd expect them all to do.  Nuking your enemies only goes so far. They wouldn't all be elaborate but a basic heal spell to me isn't that much. But if they don't start with healing spells I hope we can at least give them some because sheesh. Especially since you can only carry around so many potions.

She doesn't have to use if for others. She can use it for herself.

I don't have access to the particular site as it's undergoing routine maintenance, but you're welcome to scour university sites and health organizations for more information. I'd start with your primary health care physician.
