True rage is more of an explosion, don't you think? Rage is way too underrated.
I want Rage Spirits to explode, get stronger/bigger when damaged.

Rage is the weakest of all the known demons, so it makes sense that it's underrated.

Rage creates vengeance, what is more fearsome than vengeance. Pride creates ignorance, sloth creates nothing

So you want it to grow larger and stronger when it's health gets low like one of those Neverwinter monsters and explode on death like a flame atronach? I'd imagine that you'de get stronger rage demons around with the veil tear and all, so why not? It actually sounds pretty cool, It'll provide some variety and challenge, but I'd rather have it happen on rare occasions, since during fights with demons there tend to be many rage demons and shades.
Maybe their flames start burning brighter with hp loss too as an extra visual effect and their flames also do more damage once their hp gets below a certain point. It would also be cool if more were a bit like battle mages specialized in flame spells instead of the more common angry melee magma that shoots some flames and hides sometimes. I only ever remember rage demons trying to slide over to targets all the time even when a ranged spell would've done just fine.

Lol in dragon age 2 they were assassins. Dunno how that worked. They should just make the enraged corpses act like the abomination husks in Mass Effect 2, which just ran and explode, causing major damage.

Vengeance demons are a subset of rage demons, I think. They're the exception to the "Rage is the weakest emotion of demons" thing, if I remember correctly, which means they really could do things like this. (This might even explain the Boss-Level Rage demon at the end of the elven orphanage, which seemed rather vengeful and did kill that Templar in the manner of a boss.)

Well, codex entries do say rage demons can focus on retribution, which is a more powerful and complex motivation than simple anger.
I could see a rage demon that focuses on retribution being more powerful, but not a common rage demon.

Pride is stronger because no one is immune to it. Everybody has pride. But not everybody has rage.

no, not everyone has pride. There's pride like Hitler, or Imperials and Racism, that pride is dangerous, then there's every day pride which is like self esteem or ego, sexism, and popularity, which is vanity, and in most dangerous situations stupid, and useless. It depends on the person, for example, Pride can cause people to become Enraged when someone steps on their ego, or leads the to be Greedy thinking only they deserve everything , or Lazy thinking they are above any tasks.

so what of Justice who turn into Vengeance. Did he actually become a...a....a you know what? In that case, because of Pride, the Rage Anders felt when watching/experiencing the abuse of mages, his own kind, must have transformed Justice into Vengeance. A more powerful Rage ....Spirit

If you mean a Demon, yes, absolutely. A demon is just a malevolent spirit. As for Justice being a Rage Demon, technically yes but I think he was more powerful than is typical of them. I believe this has to do with Justice's goals being more morally complex than those of someone who simply kills in a blind rage: simple emotions lead to weaker demons.

So you say not everybody has pride then go into self esteem, which everybody has no matter how low or high, as being a type of pride. How does that disprove my assertion?

pride does not give anyone physical power. It just makes you ignorant and make you think, and believe you are better than everyone else. In reality you might actually be quite weak. Basically it gives you the ultimate mental strength, but rage takes away mental strength. And if redirected properly, makes you a reckless, unstopable jaugernaut, fearless, and capable of feats beyond your limits.

Yeah, nice idea OP. Bioware can really develop on his stuff and put more depth to it. More stories about those different demons. Sloth, Rage..etc.. It was not since i played for the second time Origins till i started to pay attention to this stuff. It is quite an interesting idea with all those fade spirits, remember that Dante Inferno was a whole game build upon this single idea.
Now with more graphical capability, you could make Fear demons to fight like cowards and use dirty tactics, where as Rage, could charge you and always attack the closest companion they see. Sloth, should be some really slow ameba, with nasty curses and lots of health. Desire was done perfectly in Origins, now its time to develop others. You could add envy demons who wont shut up during the fight and look like harpies or sth. Screaming and stuff. Gluttony for example can be some sort of massive sphere or sth, which drains your mana and stamina rapidly, while spawn lesser demons. You could make greed demons which look like zombies and when you kill them you cant loot them, their bodies just vanish.
And i would really love some big boss battle, maybe side quest, maybe plot - but some massive Fade demon, which represents whole new level of nastyness. Some mastermind that even surpasses the seven deadly sins, striking fear even into other demons like Pride, Rage and Sloth. It would be funny if i guessed it by chance and there is some demon outt here causing the veil tears and not some magister as many people believe.

Well, the Fade is powered by emotions and thoughts, or mental strength as you put it, so that actually helps the case of why Pride Demons are stronger than Rage Demons.

you are right, but i think if a Pride spirit possesses a non-mage, it would be weaker than a Rage spirit possessing a non mage.

Depends on the possession. If like in most cases the demon is still in the Fade, then no. If like Anders where the demon was on our side of the Veil, then maybe.

I think you've got it backwards. As far as I know, non-abomination demoniacs draw on their magic plus the host's body, with the demon losing nothing but their own physical power. And the Rage demon has very limited magic, whereas the Pride Demon is almost unlimitedly powerful and versatile magically.
Edit: Also, does anyone else want to see a Sylvan of Pride? Maybe keep an apple orchard of them?

Man I really need to catch up on demon lore, I can never remember which ones are supposed to be the strongest.

Well, originally it was Rage, then Hunger, then Sloth, then Desire, then Pride. I'm not sure where Vengeance demons fit in here, but one of them's a PC, so probably pretty high on the totem pole. (Edit: Even if there's not much distinction between that and Rage.) And I'm not sure where the other demons that the devs are planning to introduce fit in, though there's little point to adding anything weaker than a Rage demon.
Edit: Also note that this hierarchy is a generalization. I think I've previously noted that we run into a Rage Demon boss in the Alienage Orphanage.

You know, I think that's a cool idea tbh. They should get more dangerous the more you damage them and then explode in a fireball of raaaaaage when they die.
