See subject line: has Bioware anticipated a standard (default directory) and a non standard (user selected directory) Steam ME1 install when a retail (non Steam) ME2 tries to find the ME1 end game saves?

Cause I have a non standard Steam install and a Steam purchased copy of ME1 with many, many end games. I would like to be able to import those into ME2.

You'll probably have the option to browse.

or... you could just move your saves now so you don't need to worry about it.

Yeah, it'll either look for ME folder and not care what its parent folder(s) are. Or at worst case, as epoch_ said. You just have to copy and paste and your set.

Many games now will use the Documents folder to save game data regardless of where the program is installed on your computer (bioware has done this since Baldur's Gate) thus Steam/non Steam Save Games are in the Same place.

(this is just my opinion)

ME saves aren't saved in the ME directory, but in My Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect\\Save

I assume the steam version doesn't move them.

It's how it works on my computer, or as said above, I'll create a dummy folder with the "correct" path, and jam my saves in there.

It should work fine, and even if it doesn't it is tivial to fix.
