I noticed a lack of general discussion thread on Cassandra and so have started one.

What do we know about Cassandra?

tumblr_mtjenwoEqp1qfx3hdo1_500.gif

Cassandra is a love interest for a male Inquisitor.

Cassandra is a warrior companion in Dragon Age: Inquisition
She is a Seeker of Truth. The Seekers are secretive organization within the Chantry based around rooting out corruption.
She interviewed Varric in Dragon Age II and afterwards traveled with him for some time.
She is a Pentaghast, the royal family of Navarra and famed dragon hunters.
She has killed a dragon.
She hates blood mages because they killed her older brother, Anthony.
She is the Hero of Orlais and the Right Hand of the Divine.

Here is Cassandra's Character Kit. She has little hearts on her costume.

Here is her write up:

Though of noble birth, Cassandra Pentaghast turned her back on a life of pomp and politics long ago, trading silk and lace for sword and shield.

Cassandra is a long-serving member of the Seekers of Truth. The quiet order both protects and polices the Chantry, and is granted ultimate authority in its investigations. Feared by everyone from the lowliest mage apprentice to the Templar leadership, all are subject to the righteous wrath of the Seekers. Their judgment is final.

Cassandra joined the order shortly after the death of her brother and quickly rose through their ranks. She is outwardly rigid and rarely shows any emotion, save anger and aggression. Sharp, pious, and driven, she is the sword in the right hand of the Divine, seeking justice above all else.

Character Profile:

[DRAGON AGE]: Dragon Age fans will remember Cassandra from the previous game, but for those meeting her for the first time, who exactly is she?

[DAVID GAIDER]: Cassandra is a member of the Seekers of Truth, the order that led the templars away from the Chantry to battle the mage rebellion… but she is also servant to the Divine, the spiritual leader of the Chantry and thus all of Thedas.

[DA]: Does that ever force her to pick sides?

[DG]: She is part of both worlds, and when those worlds come into conflict, she chooses to stand with the Divine because, as she sees it, the Divine is seeking to end the chaos rather than add to it. To her fellow Seekers, this makes Cassandra a traitor, but it puts her in a position to be there when the Inquisition is founded, to do what needs to be done.

I searched for three pages. Maybe it never made it to this forum. Either way, it died, so I have made a new one.

Her Chin was broken several times between DA 2 and DAI :P

Kidding, In all seriousness.

Casss was fairly instrumental in stopping that blood mage plot that threatened the Divine two decades or so ago, hence why she got that title she has.

She's pretty cool. It seems she will be recruited very early on, as our warrior of the day.

It seems both her and the Inquisitor have a map-stabbing fetish.

If I were going to summarize her personality, from what little we know, I'd say she's principled and passionate.

There is an undertone of constant aggression, but I am unsure if that is because the trailers tend to highlight her more dramatic outbursts or because she's simply a very physical, emotive type.

The forum is a fickle mistress. One day, you are the center of attention, and the next you're at the bottom of the heap.

I suspect that my Inquisitor and she will clash. While I tend to play principled characters, they also are more diplomatic and interested in compromising.

For example, if a criminal gives me a sob story (I only did it because my family is starving), I'll often let them go with a warning. I get the feeling that Cassandra prefers to punish those who've harmed others.

In Dragon Age II, I recall my PC let a group of mages from another circle run free instead of turning them over to the Templars. I imagine she wouldn't approve of that either.

This! I've been wanting to know more about her since dragon age 2.
She's going to be a fixed presence in my party, much like Varric did (and still does) in my DA 2 parties.

I'm sooo looking forward to having Cass as a companion. I've wanted her as a companion ever since the first scene with her interrogating Varric in DA2.

I have a hypothesis. I think Cassandra will be our secondary protagonist, in the same way that Alistair and Varric were (and to a lesser extent Morrigan); she'll have a role to play throughout the plot as a whole and won't be able to leave, if ever, until the very end. She'll be part of the Inquisition almost as much as the PC is, I think...

And as to why that is? This is more of a guess, but it would seem to me that the Chantry might now be in utter shambles and unable to exert any power in an organized fashion. Perhaps the Divine is dead and there's a power struggle; perhaps only the struggle. Perhaps the templars are taking over portions of the Chantry. In any case, Cassandra might decide to help rebuild the Inquisition solely because it's the only force that might be capable of restoring some sort of order... and, after this, have only hope that this order will include the Chantry.

I suspect she'll be one of those 'you can't get rid of her until we say you can' characters.

I'm not sure how important she'll be as BioWare does enjoy introducing you to characters only to kill them off (Bethany/Carver) or make you choose who dies (Ashley and Kaiden). Both Varric and Cassandra are known to the audience already and it seems we get them early, so I can totally see BioWare offing one.

I'm all ears.
