It's a long story and goes back further then most would care to.

If you really care though...I'll give you the cliff notes, because again. Long story.

But it's a familial legend.

Long ago the Normans invaded England right? Everyone knows that story, lesser known fact, several duchies in what would be Norway also backed William, mercenaries, trading alliances, etc. You get the picture.

A very, very, very distant relation of mine was to receive payment for services rendered after the war had ended. Jarl Erik of Suugard requested the youngest daughter of the soon to be Monarch, Cecilia on the condition he got to duel for her as was tradition supposedly.

Duel never happened, Marriage fell through and their alliance with the dynasty ended and Erik died a short while later of a bad case of sinking ship.

But erm...lacking any parents I was going to challenge her to a duel for her hand.

As I said, it's embarrassing.

But...she'd warrant a revival of a thousand year old tradition.

As opposed to a frozen tundra in the middle of nowhere, Someone told me your run by left-wing extremists nowdays? (Idk if this is true, is it?...The guy who told me is a bit of a nutjob so I didn't outright believe him, and havn't bothered to verify myself)

Norway's coalition is mostly milquetoast conservatives, free-marketers, and "mad Christians in wheelchairs". There used to be a labor-agrarian coalition in power but it lost the 2013 elections.
