It's like the writers were out of ideas with what to do with Miranda, so they just repeated her loyalty mission and changed a few details in the hopes people wouldn't notice.

You put it mildly. They stripped her of any personality whatsoever. All she does it pop up, ask for your help without actually wanting help, and is gone again. Throwing in pitiful hints once in a while for good measure. That's just unworthy.

I think they wanted to concentrate on Garrus and Liara or something. Everyone else seemed to get shafted. Especially people who romanced Jacob and Thane.... ooh... man.

Nobody who romanced Jacob deserves compassion.

He could be a classic rebound after the thrashing from Kaidan.

I think people who want to talk about Miranda should go to the ME3 forums to talk about said characters...

What exactly are you talking about? Oh, you mean "price". Yeah, right. His price tag basically reads "For sale. We will accept any offer."

He could be a classic rebound after the thrashing from Kaidan.

But he is so over the top. Alright, it's not only him. Also Shepard will say some really stupid things. "Let go, you can lower your defenses now, it's okay" or whatever it was. Yeah right.

I came here for Cass and now I'm discussing Jacob Taylor. This is rock bottom I guess.

I COULD be okay with it (probably not) if her actions weren't so completely and totally stupid and illogical.

On the run from Cerberus assassins? Okay, we have a stealth ship (flown by the galaxy's best pilot) and top-level Spectre access to anything we need on the Citadel to keep them off our backs, plus a crew of battle-hardened badasses led by the single most dangerous man or woman in known space. Those assassins aren't coming anywhere near us.

Searching for somebody? Okay, our comms specialist can find a fly in a nebula halfway across a galaxy. We also have an unbound, quantum-computing AI. And the Shadow Broker. And those top-level Spectre resources I mention earlier. It'll take us a week to find Oriana, tops.

Shepard, you have ALL OF THESE THINGS at your disposal, why don't you offer any aid to Miranda? Why don't you step in and say "no, wait, don't go off and do this on your own, that's stupid" when she says she needs to do this by herself?

Because a thread that goes on for more than 1000 pages will never diverge from the main topic at points. Never.

It would have really ruined the pacing of the story though...

What annoyed me about the whole thing is that it honestly felt like, to me, that both Liara and EDI it took to replace her.  Miranda would have been a more appropriate companion in ME 2 then either one of them and Liara TOOK HER OFFICE.  It took me many playthroughs to get over that and start using either one of them with regularity.

Not any more than 'SHEPARD, I KNOW THE REAPERS ARE F**KING EVERYBODY HARD, BUT CAN YOU BLOW UP AN ASARI MONASTERY FOR ME?" and Shepard going to pick up someone's groceries because he happened to overhear them.

I still posit that Miranda should have been on the Cerberus base along with (or instead of) EDI. As a non-squad NPC (like Garrus on Menae before Liara leaves) if not a temporary squadmate.

@Colonel: Ah great. Thank you. Now I won't sleep tonight. I hate you.

@Ventus: I'm glad we've come to agree. The writing was rather loveless ll things considered, it's probably not Miranda's fault but she suffers the consequences.

Not her most flattering pic. Tbh that was the one that initially made me go meh before DA I was out. They definitely refined her look, and now she is complete perfection.

Yeah, that prerelease pic makes her look really... Oily? And she has tiny eyes.

The mission flow would have been the exact same as it is right now, only instead of Traynor miraculously tracking Kai Leng to Horizon in a profound stroke of luck, it would have been Liara and Miranda. Given the knowledge of what Liara and Miranda are capable of doing if given the appropriate resources, I'd say it would make all the more sense if they found out about Sanctuary instead of Traynor.
