I never got the impression that Cassandra is that awkward. She's blunt and has some interesting views on "ideal romance', probably influenced by all that smutty literature. But what actually happened is nearly Merrill tier stuff.

I believe this was discussed before, but what was not at this point.

I think it was the strangest part of her entire companion arc. She wants to discuss it? By all means, let's do. She mentions death of the Divine and how she is sad about it multiple times, why not mention Regalyan too, as another close person she lost to that explosion? Tell something about him in the manner she tells you about her brother? Could've been done quite early too, help the Inquisitor understand her motivations even more. Nope, nothing. Apparently doesn't even come up, if the Inquisitor is not romancing her, apart from that banter, that you may not even get. I know I didn't, just saw it on wiki.

Instead she drops that on you like a bomb right after the sex scene in the most bizarre fashion. Like, oh I've been with only one guy before. Uhh okay, Cassandra. Oh and he died btw, quite recently in fact! What are you even supposed to say to that under the circumstances? Sure, it serves as a lead up to her saying that Corypheus won't get the Inquisitor, and it sort of makes sense. But I still find the decision to write it this way rather strange, not bad per se, just strange.

She mentions Regalyan at Haven. I don't know if it's a mage-specific thing, but on my mage playthrough Cassandra said "I befriended a mage like you once many years ago. He died at the Conclave." (paraphrase, but that's her message)

She kinda is awkward when being close to someone, not Aveline level of awkward mind you lol :P

Merrill is naive, while Cassandra is a lot awkward when it comes to romance.  Very similar to Aveline!  :D

Basically, she just wants the inquisitor to stay safe, and not die.

This, and just this. Corypheus (indirectly) killed Regalyan, and she fears that the Inquisitor may fall to Corypheus at some point. She already lost one person she loved (2, if you count the Divine) to Corypheus, and she says that she will do her damnedest not to lose any more.

Probably is. I played as a mage only once, and I saw her Haven dialogue quite a number of times by then. So I might have been skipping the dialogue, not expecting to see something new. *hides*

Should've known better I guess.

I get that part, but still, not the best timing. Eh, it's not a big deal anyway. At least something to discuss on topic though.

I've only played mage and never seen anything remotely like this. She just said mages helped her, and they went back to their Circles with honors, but were forgotten by everyone else. For me anyway. It was pretty generic.

Hi, everyone. Today I finally decide to comment in this wonderful thread after reading aprox. 70% of it. Just to add a little about the Regalyan thing being drop after the romance scene, for me personally the only thing that bother me was lack of understanding of her relationship with him. For a moment I thought that she was telling the Inquisitor that she had a relationship with Regalyan that stop with his death at Haven. Which implied that the Inquisitor was just her rebound at best. But after analizing it a bit more and realized that that wasn't the case. I was able to appreciate what she was saying in a better light. The timing doesn't bother me. It even make sense to me that she would mention it at this moment where she is the most vunerable, her defenses down, trying to keep the emotional bond with the Inquisitor. And as we know she is direct and honest. If she is being this open to the Inquisitor about her feeling before and at the moment is because for her that's the way to show her love. Or at least that what I believe IMHO :D Either way whether that was appropriate or not I love her character, quirks and akwardness and all :)

Break up after the sex scene is probably the most brutal option in any Bioware romance I've seen to date.

Welcome to the most insane place on the forum. Please pick up your straitjacket that way.

That makes sense about being in a vulnerable state to dish out all of the emotional things.

She was when she approached the Inquisitor to initiate the romance. "I want a man to sweep me off my feet." - Cassandra in that sad broken voice.  :(

What's even worse is that, right after sex, if you tell Cassandra it's over, she just looks at you and says "I knew you were going to break my heart," and then proceeds to fawn all over you anyways.

Sometimes I feel sorry for her character. She is super hard on herself. Even when she is drunk and has a falling out with the Inquisitor, if you proceed to insult her and call her pathetic, it says "Cassandra greatly approves."

Yeah, that was painful to watch. Kudos to those brave people, who upload such videos on youtube.

I couldn't have ever done this myself, that would forever taint this Inquisitor, even reloading won't save him after that lol

Tbh, I found that scene great. It quite touched me. Cassandra is the only one who will do this. Be so hurt about what the inquisitor is capable of doing, violating what she believes in, that she will get drunk (and I assume she would not usually) to cope with it. And then stand up and be so honest to express this hurt. And afterward be so honorable to apologize despite her negative feelings toward the inquisitor. If you did not like her before you will have to then.

Off-topic at Cespar: a Dwarf can be a Templar? How is that even possible? Does it not include at least minimal magical abilities?

Sorry for interfering. Here Cullen says it's not magic.

But I also don't understand how dwarves can develop templar abilities if they are practically resistant to lyrium. Plus stuff templars take is probably not concentrated, or it would kill humans outright.

My dwarf said the same thing to Ser. He told me not to be fool by my resistant or something along that line. I even told Cullen that I would join the templars after closing the breach. It's part of my role play.  :)

"Interfering". Thanks for posting that. But how? I ran to Cullen again and again trying to get him to comment on it. Cassandra?... Cullen?.... Cassandra?... Cullen?... Neither of both would. I was quite frustrated.

Dwarfs are resistant because they have adjusted to it due to the extensive mining, as far as I understood. So shouldn't non-concentrated lyrium be even "worse" and have zero effect?

Even that, how could you? I wish I could have, but somehow neither Cullen nor Cass gave a damn about what I intended to specialize on. :crying:

I believe that they're resistant to the Lyrium, because Lyrium is the soul of ancient dwarves(hence the voices coming out of Lyrium or Red Lyrium). Dwarves worship stones(they even have stone inside of them), and Lyrium is… stone. Which is why surfacer dwarves lose their resistance, because they're "rejecting" their culture or way of life. I could go into more details, but this is all off-topic.

It has  a lot to do with Cullen's personal quest, and I became a Templar when I first got to Skyhold. Dorian comments on it as well.

It is indeed sad that Cassandra has nothing to say about you becoming a templar. Had to headcannon the conversation with her about this. Oh well. She apparently only comments on mortalitasi and reaver specs.
