Oh, I never left. Just tried to plan future playthroughs.
Then the only other interesting one turned out to be gay so, I can dedicate my full attention to Cass.

*sigh Sera. First Leliana, now her. Cassandras the only girl left on my radar. But if what Mike Laidlaw said is true, then there's a safe bet that there's more romance options than what is in our Inquisition.Oh, I never left. Just tried to plan future playthroughs.

Edit: Nevermind, Mike Laidlaw just tweeted me that he meant da games... so at least 6.

He didn't say that Cass can't be romanceable by women; he just said there is a very good chance now that Cass will be romanceable by men.
Wait, when was this said? Sera is f/f only?

As if it wasn't obvious alreadySince we know who is the lesbian romance, we now know that Cassandra can be romanced by male inquisitors
Hmm, I am happy for my male talvashoth
But what about my female vashoth? I really hope IB can be romanced by f!Inquisitor

So, new video shows that Iron Bull is a reaver.
With that in mind it seems likely that Cassandra will either be a templar or a champion, with Blackwall picking up the other.
While Cassandra could work as either, I think it's most likely that she'll be a templar, because Blackwall makes the most sense as a champion.

In the case companions have a single spec forced on them, I agree with Former Fiend, and that's my list:
Dorian: Necromancer Solas: Rift mage Vivienne: Knight-Enchanter
Sera: Tempest Cole: Assassin Varric: Artificier.

With the claim they've been making for a couple years that specializations will be more important to the story, it seems most likely to me that the companions will come prepackaged with the spec that makes the most sense for their character as opposed to giving the player the option of giving them a spec that made no sense for their character *coughbloodmagewynnecough*.
In which case I fully agree with Elder King's list.

Everything about Cassandra evokes Champion to me actually. She seems the "rallying" type, like Aveline. Plus, in a way it fits with her past. She's the Hero of Orlais.

I think this is most likely as well. I just think it's not completely sure. While I understand this, between Cass and Blackwall, it seems more likely that the first has templar abilities then the second.

Could these specs be placeholders and each companion gets their own unique one?
I did like that about DA2.

Which is why I said she could work as either.
But Blackwall being a templar doesn't fit so well. Wouldn't be impossible, as Alistair proves, but based on what we know about his character, it wouldn't really add to it. It would just be a random quirk of his past. But he makes absolute sense as a champion, given his position among the wardens and his philosophy of their purpose.

Apparently Viv has the unique spec of "Spirit Mage", whatever that is, so this is possible.
Edit: Correction; they were apparently just filling in the standard spirit tree with Viv, so it's not her specialization.

It has been speculated, yeah. Cass could maybe have something like: Seeker Leader or Dragon Hunter spec.
She should atleast gain bonus attack and defend points when she fights a dragon.

What I'd like to see is that the companion spec's are based off of the ones the inquisitor gets but with changes to reflect their personal history and talents.
I'd like Iron Bull's reaver spec to reflect his Ben-Hassrath training, Cassandra's templar spec to reflect her dragon slaying back ground, and Blackwall's champion spec to give indication of his grey warden history.

Maybe you can switch between their unique tree and one of the Inquisitor's trees.
Example, Varric's unique tree could be mostly archery related (Marksman tree) but if you want to use him as a dual-wielder, you can switch it out for Assassin.

Well as it turns out my source on that particular bit of information was mistaken; Viv's spec isn't "spirit mage", they were just looking at the spirit tree for Viv's talents.

True enough. It's like Warden Carver was a templar in my playthrough. Even though Alistair was an outcast drunk. Where (and why) would Carver ever learn that? ![]()

I don't think we should limit the specialization to companion only. Cullen, Leliana and Scribble could have a specialization as well. This could mean that some of the 12 heroes of the Inquisition have a none-playable spec. Also, I don't think specs are weapon specific, they are not in DA2.
Everyone gives Cassandra the Templar spec because she is a Seeker, but she has never been mentioned has /having been one in her official bio, by the devs or in her movie. People do that because most Seekers are taken from the Templar ranks, but the Therinfal's codex shows that Seekers get their own special training on top of whatever they were before. Cassandra's specialization should represent her Seeker training.

Would be funny if the Inquisitor and Cassandra romance will be like Aveline and Donnic lol.
She's a lot more confident and lady-like than Aveline. Yes she a strong woman but not a man lady. I see her romance as the Inquisitor breaking down a wall.

Wasn't Cassandra's food a very crusty baguette? Makes sense for her character i think. Very hard on the outside, but soft on the inside.
Hopefully we can get through the exterior ![]()

I would like this but i'm out. But yeah, I feel like as the Inquisitor we have to keep chipping a way at a an emotional barrier until we break through. I have a feeling she will cry at some point in the romance.
