The mods shows that it isn't just straight white male gamers (dudebro's) that apparently have a "fixation" & sexualize on characters in video games and want to have sex with every available character (despite the characters sexualities) and that female gamers (I'm assuming due to the mod changing a straight woman into a bisexual woman) can be just as culpable of that action as well in the media.

Why cant the person create a male character to romance a straight female romance. Would the person get annoyed at Dorian, Sera, Solas, Blackwall and Cullen mods being created. I know a mod for Dorian and Sera are a bigger deal for a whole set points and I get that but I still feel its "icky" to mod anyone's sexuality IMO.

But overall its that person game and they can mod it  however they want to mod it but they can't get angry when another player mods their game in way they don't like it, as overall it's just a game.

I also notice that characters can't be close friends or have a past together in the game but they must secretly want to shag each other in game according to some members of the fan-base. I notice it a lot on TV show where fan-base start acting like two characters that are close what to shag each other despite in the TV show said character are in the relationships with other characters. its a fixation on the characters and I find it weird sometimes.

It's one of the reason why I heavily dislike fanbases

Honestly, I preferred DA2's solution to this, which avoided all of these problems.

What DA2 did was treat bisexuality as a compromise.

I'm not quite sure where to stand on the matter. On the one hand, I dislike on principle changing any core aspect of a character to fit a person's interests. Whitewashing is something I hate. Changing say Dorian from gay to bisexual would also bother me, because it undermines his entire story. But I can also be understanding for say, changing a white character to a black character, as ultimately I don't feel anything is lost from the transition there. It's weird, I suppose.

On the other hand, people have a right to craft their own little universes that make them happy, and who am I to judge? So long as they don't give me **** for not adopting a bisexual Cassandra mentality, I'll be fine, because I sure as hell won't give them **** for their thing. If they don't try and force it down my throat by sending me messages, we're good, and we can all be happy.

I do think though that the argument that this is no different then changing Dorian's sexuality or Sera's sexuality has merit, because some people would probably argue that Cassandra is "better" this way. Which I think is just a really controlling sentiment and awful.

I dunno. I'm.... lost, I guess. I won't fight it because that's just a stupid thing to do -- it's going to be done anyway, so why waste my time and theirs by getting into a shitfest about it? -- but I don't have to accept it personally either. If they're happy, then that's fine, because I'm not going to **** on someone's happiness.

There are two issues here. The first has to do with historical disadvantage. That's an important distinction, and something we absolutely ought not to discount. The second issue, however, has to do with altering a character to suit your particular view of how they "ought" to be - and that's something that IMO is separately objectionable from the reason as to why you want to change the character.

Why does everyone always bring up the fact that opinions don't matter when speaking on a forum? There doesn't need to be an objective point to criticize.

No insult to Cass intended, but this screenshot remindes me that we still have a way to go before we overcome the uncanny valley feel of most characters. Advances in the skin department are pretty amazing ... you can see her pores and everything ... but the eyes not so much.

What's wrong with her eyes?

They just look kind of lifeless to me. There was actually a video on Polygon recently which treated this very subject:

It's subjective, though.

An extreme close up of even a real life eye is going to look lifeless, because the eye itself is incapable of emoting (you can't flex or bend your eyeball). The nose bridge and the eyebrows are where visual emotes are formed at the eyes (both of which are amply seen when the character is in motion).

So you want the writers to create the characters how you envision them instead of their own vision?

I believe what people do with their games is their business.  But when a person takes what they do their own games and insist their vision is better than the writers...thats when its taken too far.

You think the BSN is bad? Wait until the news reach Tumblr. There is a reason why I call that site "the pit of hell". Browsing through the 'cassandra pentaghast' tag will be such a pleasure once again.

To be fair, a lot of the reason it is the pit of hell is because a large percentage of them are  20's and under.  I find that the 25+ crowd on tumblr are far more reasonable.

I've only heard bad things about Tumblr. I bet the SJWs are only going to come out when Sera or Dorian is made straight.

Tumblr's not a bad place, per say, you just need to know who to follow. And how to put the SJW children in their place.

I'd have liked to have seen this scene, but not in a romance way if that make sense. It would have been awesome if inky and case as friends could have shared poetry.

Why would a platonic friend want to ready smutty poetry to someone with candlelight? That sounds real suspect.

I think AWTEW just wanted to see that scene with a more friendly and fun poetry reading than the romantic version. Which means without the candlelights and lovey dovey stuff.

Yes, that is what I meant. I probably wasn't clear enough in the other post.  It is not uncommon for two female friends to giggle and share stories about  romance novels they have read.  And yes that includes poetry and articles..

Why would a platonic friend want to ready smutty poetry to someone with candlelight? That sounds real suspect.

Well, you'd have to remove the candle light but two female friends are quite capable of talking platonically about fictional smutt.

Female A "Omg this naughty poem is  quite interesting.."

Female B "What's in it?"

Female A  reads out the naughty poem aloud.

Female B " Oh my god I can't believe ..someone actually wrote that..."

and then they go on to talk more about it, and how it reminds them of other things.
