I Never really paid attention to the gaming journalists and the media in general until recently as i never felt what they did affected the product we get in a negative way, its no longer the case. Now devs are shaking in their boots when releasing contents because maybe just maybe said content might offend someone somewhere, games are a form of art , everybody loses in the end when we take the devs's artistic freedom away, people like Sarkeesian and her white knights couldnt care less though.
It's getting especially bad since Anita Sarkeesian and others can straight-up lie or make things up and people will go along with. On top of being a professional victim, she's a pathological liar who uses only vague, irrefutable terms to further her case and never actually responds to people who try to discuss the topic. She'll say something like "there are male gamers who are sexist towards females", and then go on to claim the industry as a whole is patriarchal and sexist, which is entirely false. None of her statements are actually backed up by research or science, you're just supposed to trust her because she has a sociology degree. When a woman calls her out for saying something idiotic, it's because of 'internalized misogyny', as if there's some shadowy woman-hating cabal training young boys and girls to hate women subconsciously.
But then I'm just a hetero white male, so anything I say against her (no matter how unrelated it is to her as a person) is taken as an attack, and that I'm a monster who stalks women at night through alley ways so I can attack and rape them.
BECAUSE PATRIARCHY.
