Hah, looks like Cas is snoozing on the job. Just before her head jerks up and she goes 'I was awake, truly'

Incidentally, how did you get that electric blue undersuit for her armour?

That would be Tier 2 Vanguard Mail I believe.  It only goes up to Tier 2 sadly.  But if you find Superior version of it, you can get some decent stats out of it.  Won't be as good as Battlemaster armor, but trust me when I say that Cassandra looks WAY better in the Vanguard Mail then she does in her default outfit.
Not to mention her default outfit is bugged to all hell with the upgrades.

Not 100% sure but I think that armour is the one which drops from the Hinterlands dragon. One of the early/lower level dragons, in any case. It came looking like this, whether it's fixed set of materials/bonuses or random, I cannot say.

fake edit: and yes to the above; the Mail design for Cassandra is fantastic, imo.

Cassandra truly is a woman after my own heart.  If only she were real.  Women these days hate romantics.

Well, yeah. If you're a guy and you're a romantic in the modern day, it means you're gay.

According to the dudebro jock frat boys that dumb people like to be.

Or you're just going for the wrong kinds of women. Some of us are total Cassandras.  :)

It's called Earth. Third planet in the Solar system.

Huh. I live there too, but never in my life have I experienced any of this systematic oppression of women.

But now I'm curious, were you actually, personally, actively told (to your face, by total strangers) that you are evil and awful just by being born male?

Yes, actually.

I love this straw man you've constructed; because I said nothing of this sort.

You actually did: "it's a fraction of standard experience women go through their entire lives"

If I had to clarify the point of my post, it was like I said, the irony of a guy complaining how awful it is to suddenly live the life of a less privileged person (yet seemingly failing to recognize he isn't exactly getting worse lot than these other people) You know, the sort of a funny it is to see a millionaire complain about the injustice of suddenly having to punch a clock and flip burgers to make a living.

Or, instead of poorly thought-out analogies that are only tangentially related to the topic, you could provide counter examples to the examples I've given. That is how debates work, after all.

Let's see, the easiest way would be to use something you should be familiar with:

it's like everything I read or watch has some kind of "you're a bad person because you're a woman" angle to it, and it's getting really old. I can't just ignore it anymore because it's EVERYWHERE. Hell, there are entire websites dedicated to the "women are the devil" trope.

Ahh, yes, the old "turning what I say around on me" cliche. Only it never actually seems to work. Never, anywhere, will you find a book or website from the modern era, that is widely read or taken with an ounce of intellectual credence, that will claim anything similar to "women are the devil". You WILL, however, find them for "men are the devil".

By your own words, this is insufferable experience that sets you on the edge. Except it's not happening only for the last 6 months, it's been standard for as far as you can reach back. We aren't going to suddenly dismiss it now as trivial just because it's something that's experienced by someone that isn't you, are we?

It's really not. Since the 1920's, progress has been rapidly shooting forward. Since at least the 80's, the two genders have been more or less normalized in their interaction with one another between people born in younger generations. I can't speak for older people, because I'm not one of them.

I'm curious o Ventus, have you travelled much? There are plenty of places where women are systematically oppressed. Many of them are in places which are considered quite touristy on the international tour set.

Also, if anyone has a link to the Cassandra in ME armour link, I'd love to see it as I am not going to read over a thousand pages of this thread :)

There's a couple of them, actually.

And more that I can't find via google image searching. I rather like the top picture, I've never seen it before now.

I'm so incredibly glad that Cassandra isn't in ME. I could never decide who to romance between her and Miranda. Likewise, thank God Miranda isn't in DA.

I know the places you're referring to, and they're either third-world or developing countries with a deeper-rooted religious basis and unstable government. Go anywhere in America or western Europe and you'll not find any oppression, because people know not to be a**holes to each other on a person-to-person basis, and they don't have to fear for their lives when they step outside their house.

I would not call all of them developing countries, and the ones such the UAE are hardly third world.

Still, I will grant you that things have improved tremendously in much of the Western World in the last 80 years or so.

It's funny you mention the UAE. The UAE is the radical exception, not even remotely the rule. They've been criticized by nearly everybody for their blatant human rights violations and zealotry. Also notice I said "deep-rooted religious basis". The UAE has been largely unchanged since its inception in terms of any laws or democracy, instead being firmly planted in ultra-conservative and intolerant Sharia law.

You may as well be saying that North Korea is an example of Asia's prosperity and diversity.

I prefer the inquisition Cassandra, which seems to give her appearances more character. I'm just going to watch all the other romances on YouTube, because I've tried to romance other characters, but always go back to Cassandra. :P

No you won't. Hell, I've never even heard of this. There are a few black supremacy cults out there that say that white people are Satan's playthings, but I've never heard it for men.

Now, there are more out there that say that men are inherently worse than women from a secular perspective... but none of them have any more intellectual credence than the ones that say that women are inferior. And I've seen quite a few more of the latter than the former.

I have to admit that I enjoyed playing the Josie romance is entertaining as heck if you're a fan of Disney-esque romances, but honestly? I felt it lacked depth.

Fair. I concede that point. The UAE is a very highly visible, wealthy and prosperous modern nation that treats some of it's inhabitants in a poor manner which is why it sprung to mind, and I must have missed your point about deep rooted religious biases.

You actually will. Google "straight white male" and look up any of the resulting Tumblrs that come up in the search. Here's one of those Tumblrs (note the racism, transphobia, and homophobia tags that come up in nearly every post):
