I know exactly what AWTEW meant, possessing issues with non-straight pairings involving characters who weren't confirmed as not being straight. However, I find this rather inconsistent with AWTEW's apparent enjoyment of the Cassandra/Varric pairing, as that too has absolutely no basis in the game.

I really hope you're not attacking tumblrites for having victim complexes.

 

Anyway, that's about all I could parse. It's not very common for most characters in straight relationships to be confirmed to not be attracted to the same sex, so "not confirmed as non-hetero" would be how most of those pairings would go.

I didn't mention Tumblr in any capacity, but okay, I'll bite. I can't help but make fun of those people whenever given the chance because so many of them DO have victim complexes.

 

There's a reason Tumblr has that really bad stereotype of being filled with melodramatic prima donnas who get offended at literally anything. Those people deserve all the criticism they get, because it diminishes actual victims of misogyny and abuse.

What I'm observing... well, I probably can't say either without violating harassment rules, so I'll just point upwards to my edit and say that it strikes me as remarkably silly to support one form of noncanon pairing but to condemn another with the same character, to the point of calling it some variety of moral wrong.

Sure, except one pairing is still a heterosexual pairing while the other is a bisexual pairing. Cassandra, by default, is confirmed straight. She shoots down female Inquisitors who try to romance her. Varric/Cassandra, while stupid and illogical, doesn't violate that core aspect.

 

And no, nobody actually said that any non-canon Cassandra pairing is some kind of moral wrong. Not here in this thread, and not on this site in any of the threads that mention the subject.

It does, and I already agreed that Varric/Cassandra is stupid and would never happen. I also never actually mentioned that particular aspect, I told you how there's a difference between Varric/Cassandra and bisexual Cassandra, and you haven't even acknowledged what I said, let alone tried to argue against it or agree with it.

I also never actually mentioned that particular aspect, I told you how there's a difference between Varric/Cassandra and bisexual Cassandra, and you haven't even acknowledged what I said, let alone tried to argue against it or agree with it.

The difference is in which core aspect of Cassandra's presented character it violates, yes. I don't see a quantitative difference in how much as presented is being violated, or even entirely why it matters.
