Yeah, but a rogue group which committed atrocious experiments on soldiers and civilians alike.

Yea they were pretty messed up, I think the original Lead Writer Drew said that they had no plans for them past ME1 and wanted to do something new with Cerberus (them being the way they were in ME2)

We could discuss this for hours and I honestly wouldn't mind.

But if you insist.

Honestly, I really could too. I miss ME (in the sense that I'm aching for new content that's absolutely nowhere in sight).

I just don't want to be the person that derailed the Cassandra thread with a Cerberus discussion.

...Maybe we should make a new topic in the ME general lore section?

If you played Arrival it kinda makes sense but if not then eh.... I guess you could say it was for working Cerberus (which would still be a stupid reason)

I thought infiltrator was rogue :D

I played some of the engineers in multiplayer, but that isn't quite the same I imagine.

You're right. Engineer = Artificer, specifically.  :D

Be still, my heart.

Miranda explained that a decent bit.

And Akuze would have happened anyway, why not get useful data out of it.

Honestly from them sabotaging intergalactic politics to Project Overlord it always made sense.

Haven't posted there in years...I guess I could make a topic.

Rational Cerberus appreciation thread?

The Inquisition was needed to bring order back to Thedas, sure it was originally intended to end the Mage/Templar conflict if the peace summit failed but considering the Breach and Cory it became needs for another reason

Now I'm wondering exactly what the inquisition was going to do pre-Breach/Cory. I mean if the Mage/Templar didn't listen to the Divine, what power did a group of people calling themselves the inquisition was going to do to the Templar/Mages?

Rational Cerberus discussion thread, if you please. :P  Haters want to feel at home too.

lol. Clearly, I'm missing something. I thought the general lore sections were pretty new for both series.

Probably attack both groups and put them in their place :P

They kind of started like one of those shady corporations in the Aliens movies.. kind of impersonal, little disregard for colonies. It gets overblown in ME2, but it still had a lot of style. I ended up loving it. But the overblown nature went too far in the 3rd, I think. They had the cash to mount war against multiple planetary governments.

Eh, my first ending was control.. SO I don't hate them too much.. I hate what they did with them in ME3 however..

Yes it did go too far.

I'm not picking on him. I won't persist.  I'm just not talking about story anymore with him, when part of my complaints about this game is how badly implemented the Inquisitor origins can be. Some better than others (even human to an extent). To me, it's the big pink elephant in the room.

I'm going to be stubborn about it. So.. as much as I like you, I'll risk the Sith asskicking. ;)

Yes, that's fine. You can criticize his basic notion or refuse to discuss something blah blah. I do not even disagree regarding the origin stories (which, I think, don't actually exist). But I don't like that patronizing BS about avatar and age. I believe you're better than that and I want to go on liking you. ;)

Like a monkey wrench. But does that explanation satisfy you? Some ominous "They wanted to restore order"? I find that a very vague description. They obviously did not have any plan. If they had, who would stop them from following it despite Corypheus' presence? I am running errands all the time, collecting shards, hunting ram; I am fairly surprised that I am not escorting tourists through the wilderness. So how come I did not have a bit of free time to dedicate to the original problems?

That's my point, basically. It feels half-baked to me. In the beginning, the Inquisition suffers severe problems to gain support. "We need more allies, show them that only you have the mark to seal the breaches!", later "We need more allies, show them that only you can defeat Corypheus!" So what would they have done without the breaches and Corypheus and the mark? What was their plan? Because they had a fairly organized structure already when I was brought to Haven.

Fair enough. It's not meant to be patronizing. More like giving up and throwing my arms in the air. I just can't talk about story when this issue is staring in my face.

The age potshot was weak though, I admit. I'd rather make fun of stuff in game. Not the players.

Attack them until they surrender, most likely. And this Inquisition would have had an easier time, as they would have the backing of the Chantry, which could exert pressure on national rulers.

Without the breach and Corypheus the Divine would still be alive for gaining support to stop the Mage/Templar war

So the Inquisition, considering that the Chantry had opposed it, would be bad out of luck.

OTOH, you could have had a more typical murder mystery/political assassination...which throws all the peace process out the window to boot.

And the Inquisition steps to investigate. Not knowing who to blame, you open a can of whoopass on everyone. Also, torture chambers.

But people love monstrous villains, so whatever. Just thinking outloud.

The Chantry was opposed to it because the Herald was accused of causing the whole, if the Divine was still alive they would have the Chantry backing them up along with their allies

Lost in the land of a 1000 dances again? You and your wishful thinking... ;)

Sure thing. Big organizations always like to give control away.

It's pretty far fetched to speculate here. Cassandra does mention (unless I am mistaken) that she reinstalled the Inquisition and that Chantry support had been rather sparse to begin with.
