As to the whole pro-human thing, humans should care only about advancing human interest. Everyone else already had a foothold on the Citadel. Default Showed also had the same hero worship as any other Shepard. It's just that they have all other humans.

And Paragon Shepard has all of that, plus adoration from other species.

I'm probably stumbling too late, but I never liked the either/or there.

I wanted Mass Effect to have more slow building, political conflict. Not necessarily pro human or adoration from aliens. Something more Trek like, I guess (early Trek, I mean).

edit: I guess if it wasn't for the Reapers, a story like that could have been told over more games.

That's like saying that British people should only care about what happens in Britain, and should only want to forward Britain in the world circuit.

And that'd be correct. Everything done is for the advancement of self interest.

That was pretty much the case for most countries until WW2.

Would the pattern repeat again in space? I don't know.

Other species still worship Shepard regardless. I'd hour they feel about other humans that changes. Ask that's fine by ME3. And Paragon/Renegade is irrelevant here.

The humans are like babies in space compared to the other species. A pro-human Shepard could show the other species how far humans can go without them.

This is the irony of ME..

No one ends up advancing at all, period. They all become dependent on Reaper tech... just as planned by the Reapers.

About the only sign of true evolutionary independence is shown towards the end, with Grissom academy.

Sure, except that's not true at all. The self might be the primnary beneficiary, but they aren't the sole beneficiary. Only a**holes work for themselves and only themselves. Good luck getting through life with that mindset.

Nope. Take the US for example. We don't help others to be charitable. We need allies, we need a good image to encourage trade, bridges and all that ****. Which is where ME's problem lies. Helping aliens too much or too little are usually the only choices.

I assume you mean just governments and corporations.

Other Americans do actually want to help :D

Well yeah, when Shepard acts Shepard represents humanity. Whether they like it or not.

Fair enough.

I think I... guess I'm in agreement with you? Not sure. You don't like the choice between "helping aliens too much or too little", right?

I always thought Anderson represented where I wanted to go, RP-wise.

How much is "too much?"

I wish they would. Maybe they'd actually manage to put the "Great" back in "Great Britain".

I think all an pro Council mentality would sum it up.

And too little is Cerberus.

Unfortunately, the games ended up boiling down to that. The subtlety of Anderson (and old Udina) took a backseat. I mentioned Grissom in ME3.. that's about the only time any of this is really addressed. Kahlee and Jack kind of represent this middle ground themselves. Advancing humanity, but not like Cerberus.

What the hell. I'm talking Mass Effect in the Cassandra thread. What have you guys done?

That series is supposed to be dead to me.

I don't think that supporting the Council ever stifles humanity.

It could easily have been. We happen to start the series at a time when humanity demands to be given more power.

If we just let the Council do what they want, even that would have never happened. Mass Effect wouldn't exist without a little old fashioned human assholery.

The human ambassador in "Revelation" is the best.

The aliens discover humanity has been doing AI research and use it as an excuse to stifle humanity, going so far as to demand alien overseers on Earth. She tells them to go bugger themselves and actually dictates what type of punishment humanity will allow them to "impose".

Ela foi foda. If it wasn't for her Shepard would have never become a Spectre.

Yeah, I vaguely recall her. She had a cool speech, I think.

Would this be Cassandra as a Necro Mage?
