I had to google that song. Who is it in the avatar anyway? However, I am a tad disappointed that you consider Cass not human.
I still have FF12, FF13 (and X2 not even opened), but I can't seem to get into them. They're still around for a rainy day.
I haven't played other JRPGs in awhile though. The last great one was Valkyria Chronicles... but I haven't played the spinoffs.
Honestly, X-2 is an oddball.. and I honestly never finished it. I got close to, but it didn't capture me like FFX did. Its like sailor moon costume changing battle system..
Hmnn, out of recent JRPG's, I recommend Tales of Graces F. It is absolutely hilarious, and really well done.

Cool, I might stock up on various JRPGs. I missed a lot. My PS3 has been sitting around for a long time.

I know the story, but yeah, missed it. I haven't seen most Disney movies. Like literally, none. I saw Snow White when I was like 6, and that's it. I like that show Once Upon a Time though... and how they made Rumpelstiltskin the "beast". But at least Rumpel knows he isn't worthy of Belle. He isn't deluded at least.

It's complicated.. he's cruel to her at first, but a lot of his story is in a kind of Redemptive arc.. so the relationship grows with that.
I don't think it's possible to relate this to Cass anymore either.
Good to see that i am not the only one here that's into JRPGS, most people i talk to you are like "ew JRPGS" everytime i mention that i like the Tales series , or final fantasy etc..
Are you going to try Final Fantasy Type-O? I really want to play it. Just came out one day ago.
Depends on what u like, but I played it on psp, and it's not that great.

Are any of the new JRPGs worth playing? The last ones I really, truly enjoyed (and have even replayed from time to time) is Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger. I did continue playing the Final Fantasies up to XII (I think? Whatever one had Balthier in it). But I could finish it. They all just seemed increasingly derivative and as I grew older, I got tired of all the teenage whining and angst. Have they moved on from that?
I would recommend Valkyria Chronicles...which I mentioned above. It's just classic turn based combat. Very fun. More of a RPG/tactics hybrid.

Most of the new final fantasy are switching to that real time combat, which is *Disgusted noise.* I actually did like FF13's story, but the final fantasy series seems to be moving away from its core. I'll probably look at a Let's Play video, first.

Maybe once Nomura goes, so will the teenage whining and angst. Some of the new ones are yes.

Yes they are, and its worked out badly for them. Bravely default is new game with classic JRPG gameplay that outsold lightning returns by a landslide.
FF has gone so far from what built the brand, that I expect it will collapse sooner rather than later.

I think the difference is the main designer left FF, right? They've been experimenting and trying different types of real time ever since. For better or worse.
I would say the same here though. Brent Knowles was the designer for a lot of older Bioware combat (BG, NWN, DAO, etc). He left before DA2. He did Jade Empire too, which was real time.. but still different than this.

Yea I like 13, but nothing really seems to compare to FF7,8, and 9. I did enjoy Final Fantasy Tactics. Ff9 is probably my favorite in the series so far.
Anyone played Chrono Cross?
I really don't want the FF series to collapse, because out of every games I've played, those adventures are personal and dear to me. But every RPGs nowadays just want to become all action-rpgs. Basically, they want new fans, and seem to not remember those old fans.
I'm looking forward to KH3.
HK-47, but I'm reappreciating Bastila all over.. I had no idea it was Jennifer Hale all this time. She's really diverse.
Sounds like the same voice Hale always uses, tbh. Just a different accent. I can still appreciate Bastila's character though. KotOR will always have a special place in my heart, because childhood.

That was my first Bioware game (didn't get into BG until later), but I was in my 20s, I think.
I can see some parallels with her and Cass. Not the characters, but the shared role of leadership you have with both of them.
