You can't really compare the bi-mod to tethraghast. Tethraghast is just shipping, that works reasonably well. It doesn't fundamentally change  their character, or mess with the games code.

It doesn't work well. Neither one wants it. And Cass wants someone with a lot more earnestness and romantic gesturing. It's basically rewarding Varric for putting in zero effort. Making the actual Inquisitor and Cass pairing look stupid in the end. :D

Fan fiction is cool.. and I think there are a lot of creative people doing it. I just don't like this level of arrogance or claims of creative ownership.

I think the Bi discussion is worse though. One statement stuck with me.. about "How I paid for the game. And I just see it as a starting point. I can expand on Cass with my own ideas." I'm paraphrasing, but it was along those lines. The word "starting point" annoyed me. It's not a starting point.

And I'm someone who wished there was an actual bi Cass prerelease.

How is the tethraghast community arrogant, or forcing claims of ownership?

The bi-issue,  and the Modder who did it playing the victim ..after she instigated the whole thing.

Cassandra never said 'no' to the idea in the banter. But eh, lets just agree to disagree.

It's arrogant to push out people who want to discuss the actual game content. And placing your own content above it. There is no thread like it on this section of the forums. One completely dedicated to fan fiction.

But I don't go in that thread. It's not like i'm harassing anyone about it. I'm fine if people stay in their own world.

"Just because two people dislike each other doesn't mean they're about to kiss, Sparkler."

If people dislike each other, I think it's a safe bet that they DON'T want to kiss. Hence the mutual dislike.

I don't get this whole "opposites attract" mentality. No healthy relationship is built on a foundation like that.

Even if she didn't, Varric isn't making the effort. He isn't going to be that guy, coming up and bugging her, and reading crappy poetry.

He might be the guy writing in secret, but that's for his own entertainment. :D

I guess it can be kind of arrogant, yeah. But if they are not becoming raving lunatics, completely changing the character, and pushing  hardcore SJW nonsense down my throat, than I don't care what any pairing does.

Varric isn't exactly writing in secret though.

I don't want to say anyone's outright rude though.. because they're not. This is just more about how I perceive the fan fiction thing sometimes.

Other than that, Inquisitors don't want Varric to steal their thunder. There's no competition. :D

Because the subject is never even brought up in banter. Having just listened to all of the banter between Cassandra and Varric, I can confirm this. Bull is the only other companion that mentions anything between himself and Cassandra, and he means it as a joke.

No I mean.. I was kind of imagining Cyrano or Roxanne.. Where Varric feeds the Quizzy a bunch of lines..

To be fair, that Varric alone saying "no" should be enough. He's not interested by Cass, he's still into Bianca, and that's pretty much all there is to say on the matter for me. However I like to watch his relationship with Cass going from prisoner-and-jailer to vitriolic-almost-budies.

Ah, that reminds me of BGII. Garrick the bard trying to seduce a lady member of the Order of the Most Radiant Heart, Cyrando the gnome feeding him with romantic lines to seduce her...and Garrick failing because, really, he's Garrick. But Cyrando got the lady, so yeah!

Ah! Found a screenshot! All the memories!

Oh, but it's not enough. Not nearly.

Someone flat-out saying "no, it won't happen" and having known feelings for a different character aren't enough at all, because there are always going to be people who want to peddle their nonsense and claim it as valid truth.

Just don't say anything to them about it because then they'll get upset and defensive like the barely-out-of-puberty teenage girls they are. I mean, you're not allowed to criticize something they like, it's just their opinion. It doesn't matter if it's outright contradicted in the actual game itself, it's fiction, so any notion of realistic continuity and character interaction go right the f**k out the window, becuase it's not real.

They're free to believe whatever they want, by all means, but to say to someone's face (or to their computer screen, or whatever) that it has some merit of truth is false.

I don't know if Bull meant it as a joke but Cass clearly says she isn't interested in anything beyond flirting.

I kind of wrote my take on this other day elsewhere... I got a little too much into "MBTI" typing, but he's an ESTP. More or less. He doesn't seem to get a good read on situations without pressing and pushing for visible reactions. That's when he knows to stop or keep going further. One reason why it annoys me. Usually the real world versions can be worse than this.

She plays along at first, but gets tired of it eventually.

I think Bull really meant it, but dropped the idea as soon as Cass made clear it would never happen. The flirting thing after that is more or less a game between the two of them.

Cassandra loved that attention, which is why she told Iron Bull he didn't have to stop. :P

I have not heard all banters, but I remember especially one where he keeps flirting and eventually asks if he's been offending her. She replies "I didn't say I am offended. Nor did I say you should stop. So long as it's clear it will never happen." (not literally, probably). So at least there she did enjoy his advances but isn't seriously interested. The way Bull is depicted I assume he wouldn't wish to marry her but would go for sex if she was up for it. So I don't think he meant it purely as a joke.

However, I really don't know what his MBTI type is. I'm "glad" I know my own even. But maybe that's why I don't find Bull very good as a character: he's just not really believable. To me he rather seems like he pretends to be someone, not like a realistic person. It's all so forced. You say "real world versions can be worse", so maybe that's it. He just does not actually resemble a "real world version".

Yeah, it's like a caricature of what he thinks is a cool, outgoing guy.

I almost feel sorry for him in a way though. It reminds me of my attempts at it in highschool.

No, it's not. She tells him clearly that he can go on (coz she's a woman after all blah) but no means no.

This. He might have been sincere at first, but after she makes it clear that she's not interested, it's pretty obvious he means it in a non-serious manner just going by the tone in which he says it. Cassandra is amused by it and lets him continue to do it, because she has a sense of humor and isn't a b**ch about it.

She's just saying she isn't going to make a big deal about it. He means nothing. But if he had any bit of introspection, he'd stop. Why push things that go nowhere? It's self-indulgent.
