How am I joking. Everything about ME is about this repeating cycle. Cerberus is just the latest culprit.

Yeah, not happening. It makes them entirely different fans, who live in a new setting.
Which makes it pointless to talk about Cassandra to them. They're more interested in Cass' doppleganger.
I think people should find her compelling enough, without any of that. I and many guys still post in Sera discussions a bit (at least when her thread wasn't locked. Now we have a group page atm).
I don't know if it's up to you to decide whom people "should" find compelling, or how they do it. It's all one character; all that changes is our place with her.
Wait, the Sera thread was locked? Why?
Well, I guess so. I'll still keep shipping tethraghast, and still occasionaly tease u guys wi it.
Only if I can go in the Cassaric thread and post pictures of Varric and Bianca snuggling. Fair is fair, after all. ![]()
Wait, the Sera thread was locked? Why?
Rampant off-topicness.
I figured they'd eventually lock it for that reason, given Sera was so rarely discussed.
Surprised it took them so long though.

Because I care about her having a general image. This makes it easy for all fans to have something solid to reference and discuss. And not to be ever changing anf fluid. That would make conversation pointless. Where does the line get drawn? I also care for artists to have sole power on how they present things like this. The second is a very important principle to me. Just as an artist myself. It isn't a democracy...unless the artist explicitly makes it one.

Artists have sole power in making their product. How their product is modified thereafter is out of their hands. I would pursue this a fair ways further if I actually liked Cassandra in a romantic fashion, but I will say that the hostile environment this thread created regarding the topic is disgusting.
From biotics to advanced artificial intelligence they created, they built the foundation for the ascension program, they sabotaged the turian war machine, they even built upon even more advanced technologies.
They weren't caught in the pattern, they sought to control it.
And then they failed.

That's part of the pattern. Problem the more common pattern, I bet.
I think Saren might've been trying to do something more different, with his dreams of synthesis and such. But control.... that sounds like something many civilizations would try. It's what anyone does with a hot commodity.

There's power in tools, yes. If you want to put value in it, feel free. Have a party.
But I think an artist should be respected, despite all of that.

The official ship name is Tethraghast, btw. Lol.
Them becoming pawns of the very foe he spent his life preparing for is a insult.
I loved that irony to be honest.

I've not, thus far, seen Gaider ask people using said mod to stop using it, so I don't see any disrespect. Not that I necessarily think he'd have the right to.
You know, there'd be an easy way to make it less of a sausagefest.
Nothing wrong with a little sausage in the morning XD
Seriously tho, no thanks. I've seen the likes of the women in the rest of the forum. Looking at you.
If they can't take the heat here, then peace. Plenty of other threads around. This one's... eccentric, but there's room for it to stay as is, especially if getting more clam means pretending to like those stupid mods. I don't mind people modding, but I don't have to pretend to like it either. Good riddance.

I know. I've blacklisted the term along with Cassaric on tumblr a long time ago; it's everywhere in the Cassandra Pentaghast tag.
And when I get tired of you lot, I just switch to the Solas thread ![]()

You don't have to ask him. He made things as they are...when they didn't have to be... what more do you need? No one asks him because it's a redundant question.
More importantly however, you should already know this. How you relate to artists is more about you relate to anyone in general. You don't take their stuff and say it's yours. This is a social issue, at the end of the day.

I'm taking nothing. I would certainly never claim that Cassandra was my character, nor would anyone else who used the mod; it's only you who's saying she's a different character.

Well, she is a different character that way. What other word is there for it? She's written as not wanting that. And you/modders say "No, screw you. You do want it. Because I say so." That's pretty different.

The point is that we're not stealing Cassandra as intellectual property or anything. We're not taking anything from Gaider. We're modifying our own product that we paid for.

My complaint is more about a respect for artistic vision. I don't know how you'd actually go about stealing the property.
Nothing is stopping you from tooling things. Except your own conscience. All I'm trying to do is hope you have it in this matter. Or if not conscience, simply view Cass in valid roleplaying terms... and treat her, for lack of a better word, as a person endowed with some kind of will. Artists breath life. The characters move on that life afterwards. But we never truly will breath into it. Except with our own creations.

To me, Cassandra is not a real person. To my character, she would be, because Cassandra is in the same plane of existence as she, and my character would not, for instance, use blood magic to bind Cassandra into an unwilling relationship. But the relationship between myself and the character is not the same as the one between characters.

Go ahead if you really have to.
But don't expect much discussion on it here. This is a decision to break away from the Cassandra most are talking about, and the one the writer created. Why even care to talk about her, when your own actions indicate you didn't want to in the first place? You don't want a shared DA experience on this.
