I'm lol at the debates against social norms now. "Norms are different because Xil."
Lulz.
I'd say that perspectives are different, and you can't expect people who don't share your point of view to see things the same way as you do. I'm Latino; that is going to shape how I view things in a way that someone who isn't Latino isn't necessarily going to share.
Similar to how I'm sure Cassandra's Andrastian point of view would differ from an Inquisitor who is qunari, dwarven, or elven.

Aus.
I don't care whether it is illegal or not, there are valid reasons for both sides of the argument. People here still for the most part regard it as immoral, and they are entitled to that opinion. Australia is not America, we don't have free speech in the constitution, so people are far more conservative.
They are indeed entitled to be wrong and unjust, as I'm entitled to disagree with that.

Xil, as far as I know, lives in the American South, iirc. I live in the American South. Contrary to your very unpopular belief, we don't have very many openly lesbian couples, let alone lesbian marriages, and my state, surprisingly enough, has it very legal at the moment. Not to mention the entire LGBT+ community makes up less than 10% of the entire world's population. That's against norms in literally every possible way. Calm down.

Kind of, only not in anyway. We all, for the most part, have a very similar culture. You being hispanic doesn't change that. You still live in the West, on a Western RPG developer's forum, and last I checked, there aren't that many married lesbians wherever you live either. Mostly because there aren't that many married lesbians anywhere in the world comparatively.

I'm entitled and obligated to ask how the hell this is at all relevant to anything she said.
For the love of God, quit trying to make an issue out of everything when the woman was just defending straight short haired women from stereotypes that are also harmful to lesbian women...
Jesus Christ.

I don't understand how the topic can go from stereotypes of gay/lesbian people to personal perspective, in less than a page. The derailing usually takes time. Then I remember who's in the thread right now.
Personally, I'd be okay if we went back to Cassandra in lingerie, but then I'm a misogynistic straight white male for starting that conversation.
Not to mention the entire LGBT+ community makes up less than 10% of the entire world's population.
Just in the U.S., they're about 3.5% the population. Of that 3.5% only 1.7% are gay or lesbian.

Either way. David Gaider is gay himself. I'm sure he already thought this through. He must've had his reasons. It's not like he doesn't care about these issues.
But I think his reasons should be respected. Whatever they are. It's his right. And besides that, he doesn't need much reason anyways. It's not like any writer needs to explain why they made a straight female character. Or any character, for that matter. As if that's some unjust thing to do. It isn't wrong. It just is. These things simply exist. And writers depict them.
If you don't want to respect it, fine.. have a party in your own time if you want. Just don't expect other fans to have much to talk about it. You're just distancing yourself that way. Don't blame others.
See, there I go. Offering my opinion to a worthless conversation again.

I wouldn't have replied had she not tried to make some kind of justification of the ethical deficiencies of an apparently too-large proportion of Australians, and that was the bit I replied to last.

Oh, no, I quite approve of Cassandra in lingerie.

I'm curious. If "other" fans won't pay any attention, how is the image damaged?

The image isn't damaged to me. Only how I relate to you as a fan is. You might as well be talking about Mickey Mouse once you take these measures. It isn't Cass.

I don't think Xil or I have expressed have outrage. I'm actually bewildered by some of the outrage directed at Xil since she simply expressed confusion as to why a particular post made a dichotomy with being married and having children to being gay.

I have friends who are gay, some of whom are going to be married or are already married. It's why, if someone brought up a woman who was married and had children, I wouldn't necessarily assume she was straight.

Well, if it helps, I don't actually use the mod, because I'm not romantically interested in Cassandra. I'm more advocating on behalf of its existence.

Is that what you call explaining why a population doesn't think the way you do? A justification?
If you're butthurt that she lives in a part of the world that doesn't think like you do, then I suggest you don't ask where she lives in an obvious trap to spread more of your useless retort. I'd also suggest you not take explanations of culture as justification because it just makes it even more obvious you just had to take the opportunity to harp on about your sensibilities, when no one was even ripping on gays in the first place.
Every day with you, I swear.

Well, it's pretty cool if you decide to.
I don't have strong opinions on it's existence itself. I'm not the thought police. I just don't care for it. I have more of an issue in how some would equate their experiences to the original vision. That goes for anything really. Not just this.

No, but even so, giving such people the opportunity to spread their agenda isn't smart, so this is also The End with me and Xil as well. Take that crap to Tumblr and leave us be.

I wouldn't have taken it as such if she hadn't said that bit about "valid reasons for both sides of the argument." If it turns out that she meant "there are reasons that can be explained via logical analysis of human behavior" and not ethically valid ones, then I withdraw my statement and apologize.

Leliana: *gazing through a window in an Orlesian market square* Ooh Cassandra, come and look at this one.
Cassandra: Ugh, why are they all so frilly? I know they're supposed to be sexy, but they're all so... Girly.
Leliana: *opens the door to the shop and leads Cassandra inside; walks over to a set of pink lingerie and feels it with her hands* Oh, touch it. Freshly spun Orlesian silk. And the color! If you want to be sweet with the Inquisitor, I would definitely recommend something like this. You're tough and blunt, so it would be a pleasant surprise for him to see you in this. I can imagine it now, you would be so pretty!
Cassandra: But why? It doesn't look very comfortable or practical.
Leliana: Cassandra, the point of lingerie is to take it off. I guarantee you that when he sees you wearing this, he will want to ravish it off of you and take you on the spot.
Cassandra: *glares and turns red*
On a whim I clicked the link to those images, and found this:
snip
Cassandra: *she and the Inquisitor are being kissy with each other in the Inquisitor's quarters* You've been good to me, far more than I could ever have imagined. I want to do something special tonight. For us. *gets up and walks into the bathroom, closing the door behind her*
Inq: *thinking to himself* Something special? Hmm. With Cassandra, that really could mean anything.
(a minute or 2 later, Cassandra comes back into view)
Cassandra: *nervously standing in front of the Inquisitor* Well, this is it. Do you like it?
Inq: *eyes widen* It's... You're absolutely gorgeous. I wouldn't take you to wear lingerie though.
Cassandra: You would be right. Leliana helped me pick them out. You wouldn't think it, but behind the spying and shanking, she's quite the fashionista.
Inq: I can't wait anymore. Come here. *takes Cassandra's hand and leads her to the bed*
Cassandra: *pushes the Inquisitor onto the bed and climbs on top of him; they are passionately kissing* Oooh, it seems she was right after all. *giggle*
Inq: *sliding Cassandra's lingerieup and over her shoulders, trying to take it off* By the Maker! You giggled. Who was right?
Cassandra: *blushes a deep scarlet* Leliana. She said that you would ravish the lingerie off of me and take me on the spot. *tosses lingerie off to the side*
Inq: Well, she was right. *unhooks Cassandra's bra and tosses it away; Cassandra slides one of her hands down the Inquisitor's chest, down to his waistline and onto his pants zipper*
