I think there does need to be an explanation. I'm trying to understand the biological mechanics here especially. Not merely "what some people like". That's pretty vague... I'm not sure what it means.

Well, as TEWR said, pleasure and pain are intertwined for some people. Pain can make you feel exhilarated and alive and truly, unless you are someone that feels that then you will probably never genuinely understand. You are also placing your ultimate trust in someone and the bond you can create through that can be pretty big, bigger than what some people experience in a regular sexual relationship.

For once I'd ignore my own rules, it wouldn't be a game with her. I wouldn't factor in consent or consequence.

That would actually be kind of cool, but I wouldn't want to hang out in the Antarctic for an entire year. Maybe a couple of weeks to a month.
