I'm trying to paint Cassandra.

Sword in or out of sheath? Blue or red armor? All surprisingly difficult questions.
Sword out of sheath. Give her a battle like pose. Red armour to go with all the blood, or blue to contrast with it. Hmmm... blue. A light blue could look nice. What are you using to paint with? Watercolour?

If you go with sword in sheath then you should have her hand grasping the hilt.

I just really think red is her color, but I like blue more, and this piece is turning out a bit melancholy so blue seems kind of right.

Are you doing a portrait? If so, go with red. If your going for something with a bit more movement, maybe a little scenic, go with blue.

Lady, do you have a colour photocopier? I wouldn't want you to go with one colour and not like it. So, what I do whenever I do something like this, I colour photocopy it and try out both. When I've chosen the one I like, I go back to the original and paint it.

Well, I use the copier at my work to make multiples of the initial sketch. Then I can trial and error my way through the painting process. It works out.
