Unrelated but your avatar makes me laugh every single time I see it.

Bearded Cass shall conquer all.

I'm pretty sure she finds the duel with the Arishock romantic with a Lady Hawke too.

I'm pretty sure she does. I believe it's Varric that calls it a crush (?) if it's a male Hawke and hero worship if it's female. I could be wrong. It's about time I replayed DA2.

No, you're completely right.

She does indeed.

I thought she meant "romantic" in the other sense. Not the relationship sense. The..umm..poetic sense of Romance. The idealized view of Reality. The Don Quixote meaning of romance. She's so stunned with Hawke's heroics, it's almost like something out of a story (which, in fact, it is :D It's all lies!).

I thought that as well. When I hear someone referred to as a romantic, I think of what you described.

I'm really liking that one. Love the long neck and Joan of Arc hairdo.

She does. It's the action/setup she finds romantic: defeating the Arishok in single combat.

She probably read fantasy novels or what ever fantasy novels are called in a fantasy setting. You know the type: the ones where the hero(ine) save the girl/boy/world/people. She also idealized her dead brother. Wouldn't surprise me if she entertained the though of a Prince(ss) Charming at this point, although she's really far away from being a damsel in distress.

If there was collectible cards in Thedas, she probably would have the entire Legendary Heroes set...that she hides under her pillow.

Novels   :P

A single combat duel is romantic the same way sailing towards the sunset is romantic. The ideas of intrepid adventures, amazing mysteries, journeys to far away lands, and in general the opposite to boring, practical-minded rationality. Learning the ways of the Force and travelling to Alderaan to help the Rebellion as opposed to working at the farm with uncle Owen.

This post is directed to the guy who probably overheard the writers talk about Cassandra being romantic, or maybe the writers told him without clarifying what they meant, and consequently drew little hearts on her armor. Look, she's got little hearts, that conveys she's a romantic.

edit: I'm a moron.

In heraldry, an heart is a symbol of sincerity (aka truth).

It could be ironic. Like the Queen of Hearts. Maybe Cassandra's evil and kills her servants.

Didn't know that! That really fits with her as a Seeker and her quote, "I'm not interested in stories! I came to hear the truth!"

Kind of a literal play on "Heart on Sleeve".

Let's not forget that she was/is a Seeker of Truth, so the hearts used in their heraldry meaning make sense.

I'm an ignorant ******.

Thanks for that piece of education.

I'll leave that previous comment as it is so Gaider has something to point to when he complains about how the fans don't know what they're talking about.
